>> Back when I was growing up (late 80’s early 90’s) The djs were just as important as the music. The radio station made the dj just as important as the music. Why did that stop??? <<
Telecom ’96, which resulted in stations sold for much more than they’re worth along with (at the same time) Wall Street moving into broadcasting. ROI is the name of the game, baby.
The CP has been extended a few times already, so likely another extension will be granted this year.
Any news (no pun intended) on cuts at KXL?
Even though Chris worked in PDX, this belongs in the “Seattle Radio Happenings” thread.

The only thing it shows is how much more clueless Americans are these days.April 28, 2015 at 6:47 am in reply to: Luther – Anger Translator? What were they thinking? #10079
For once, Andy and I agree – those WERE better bits. As was the CNN jab.
Incidentally, CNN ran a highlight reel from past WHCDs and I have to say while this year’s event had fewer funny moments the best ones topped years past.
By the way – my commentary on who hosted the WHCD was directed at Cecily Strong, not POTUS. Strong was awful.
While Jenner’s struggle is no doubt real, the spectacle behind it (including the new series on “E!” chronicling the change) IS a cheap publicity stunt. Which is not surprising coming from someone in the family famous for being famous.April 24, 2015 at 8:45 pm in reply to: Police ‘Coup’ Prevents Newly-Elected St. Louis Area Mayor From Taking Office #9999
Well, it’s more than the police…it seems it’s the city attorney who’s telling Mayor-elect McCray her election was illegal due to voter fraud.
And Mayor-elect McCray says she will fire said attorney as soon as she gets into office.
Oh, regarding the “KKK element” – the mayor and the attorney are both black.

KBFF should ask iHeart Media how well it worked to blow out a local morning show to bring in a Seattle one – or would that be CBS, since they owned 107.5 when Bob Rivers was brought in long before Entercom tried it. But since Brooke is known to PDX from her time with the Buckhead show, it might work better. Who knows?
Or as a spokesperson for the DNC.

In other news, a study finds uncontrollable anger has increased 10,000 percent since 2009.
Mine are more media-related.
Someone earlier posted using “reached out” – as in “we reached out to the victim for a comment”.
Anchors that start EVERY story with “well”. Well? Why?
Anchors/newswriters that editorialize. I’ll decide if a story is “tragic” or “shocking”, thank you very much – I don’t need help.
