Radio Disney is no longer on HD anywhere in the country. That contract ended in 2018.
All you have to do is listen to it- they sure aren’t relaying KGTK.
Deane, while I disagree with you politically, I salute you for actually engaging in some honest debate here. I find it fascinating, though not at all surprising, now that things are looking bleak, suddenly all of the crowing Trumpie voices on this forum have magically disappeared.
If Warren is a radical socialist then so was FDR. But then there were lots of folks calling him that then, so…June 16, 2020 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Coronavirus outbreak linked to eastern Oregon church surpasses 200 cases #46855
So what you are saying, Paul, is that this is all a “part of God’s LaGrande plan”?
Not sure Clear Channel has the loot necessary to buy much of anything right now.
They are, however, a large radio syndication company. So, you know….
Also, stating one is “for” or “against” the 2nd Amendment is disingenuous at best. The vast majority of American people are likely “for” all of the Amendments in principle. We have seen this thinking over and over again in the last 30+ plus years, in every political argument. Basically it’s “My view of ____________ is the correct view, and therefore if you have a different view you are against the whole concept.” It is absolutely bullshit false binary thinking, and I think ultimately detrimental to our society as a whole.
In this specific example, I happen to be a supporter of the 2nd Amendment. The WHOLE second amendment.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The NRA, for example, really loves the part after the second comma. The rest, not nearly so much. So much so that the mural at their HQ ONLY contains the “last part.” Convenient to their argument, sure. Honest? Not so much.
The vast majority of marriages succeed. That is not news. Divorce rates going up or down IS news.
The lack of federal leadership re: pandemic response IS news. Because it is killing people. The lack of quality ammunition is not immediate news to the vast majority of the population right now, and as such is not news for the general media. It may very well be important to YOU of course, but clicks determine where the resources go.
If it bleeds it leads has always been the case. The loss of the Fairness Doctrine may very well spell the end of our democracy in the end if it hasn’t already, and there are definitely folks who have plenty of motivation to have that happen.April 4, 2020 at 5:37 pm in reply to: KSLC-McMinnville analog is now All Classical Portland #45610
You are hearing the 44 watt flamethrower local translator of the Air1 satcaster network. Parent station is KHRI in Hollister.
From my actual location about 20 miles north of the towers, it is safe to say the 1210 carrier has been shut off. Would not shock me if it is never turned on again, as Bustos has their Z format on 2 FM rimshots that pretty well cover the I 5 corridor at this point. They already downgraded their signal, bailing out on their night array and returning to the original 2 stick array built originally when it was on 1220 as KASY.
I mean, they may flick it on every now and again to keep the license, but then again…
I con now for the first time from my house really hear 1200 Vancouver BC. So there’s THAT I suppose.
KMIA, indeed. Prophetic calls, no?February 16, 2020 at 12:00 pm in reply to: King: Voting for Bloomberg is the line I cannot cross #44245
You guys can argue all you want about revolution vs. evolution. The new Democratic party vs. the Old Guard etc. I would vote for a potted plant at this point. And so will a huge number of people. Just you wait. Hillary was a well qualified but terrible candidate, and still got 60 million to pull the lever. Pete, Mike, Joe, Liz, Bernie. Any one of them will get 68 Million. Just you wait.
Well, maybe not Liz.
Everyone up at Star in Seattle wears like 3 hats, so the 3 person afternoon show really is everyone’s second job. Kent is the longstanding PD, Marina does double duty on news pieces for sister KOMO AM, and Jen is also Promotions Director and APD. Kent for years was also the daily afternoon TV host on KOMO. These people work hard…plus Marina is fighting cancer on top of it all. Easy to afford a 3 person PM team when you can split your budget like that.
Go ahead, get the last post. I know that’s important to you.
LOL. And you were right!
46? Ya punk kid, get off my lawn!
Geez, I hope their air signal doesn’t have that awful 60Hz tone as well.
Thank you for the explanation(s), Andy. Makes sense.
I am going to ask a dumb question of the tech types here. If an AM was to go full digital, would it still be bound by the same patterns, power, nighttime power etc?
If I had to make an uneducated guess (I have always been on the programming side) I would say the song would remain the same, as the carrier is still the same. Even if what it is carrying is different.
Am I on the right path here, or not? What say you?
