Cashier = $15 / Hour
Trimmer = $20 / hour
Grower = $35 / hour
$70K / year for growing pot competently. Amazing! And welcome news as far as I’m concerned. Economic growth from pot needs to benefit everyone, and this is a great way to further that cause.
The three-year contract includes salaries starting at $15/hour with some making as high as $34/hour, regular raises, affordable health insurance through a multi-employer fund, pension contributions, paid vacations and sick leave, as well as seniority and grievance protections.
Talk about the political alignments too! Democrats, Unions, Pot friendly, liberal minded people? Yeah, good news for Blue Oregon. 🙂 Count me as a fan.
Of course, this is not without the usual greed and corruption: http://marijuanapolitics.com/marijuana-union-organizer-wanted-by-fbi-on-corruption-charges/
I see that as a bump in what otherwise might be a solid road to a legit industry that can employ a lot of people and value them well enough to live reasonable, modest lives. Some could end up doing very well should they advance beyond grower status and own a business or get known for their tastes and understanding as budologists, critics, etc…
