The winning Democratic House candidates this election (the ones who took back seats from Republicans) were moderates, not lefties. They were good fits for their districts and states. This ought to settle the “Democratic civil war” between pragmatists vs. Berniecrats, but it probably won’t.
The truth is Berners won offices and will make a caucus, and it’s purpose will be to drag the party left.
The struggle is just ramping up Andrew.
Pelosi just gave a nothingburger speech indicating she’s already looking to capitulate, “resist” is laughable in the face of “bipartisan getting stuff done” too.
You read it here first. We haven’t seen anything yet.
It is no where near over. The party leadership is not on board with the policy positions needed to actually be an effective opposition party. So long as that is true, progressives will continue to build their case, win elections, and drag it all much closer to that need than we’ve seen the old guard even willing to discuss.
