That’s an area where CCM would work, but they already have non-commercial K-Love and Air-1. People can go to 93.7 whenever EMF is fundraising, but I don’t expect it to work any better than, what was it? Dave-FM, or “Fred-FM playing stone-age favorites?”

Hasn’t KTMT been CHR for several decades? It must still be working. I can’t believe that they’d let it go for CCM!

Yes, for most of the years, but with a short time out with adult hits, I’m thinking Dave FM but I’m not certain.

Sadly, Buffalo Broadcasting is throwing in the towel for $150,000 Yreka will no longer have local radio.

The stations listed in the sale are:

    • KSYC (FM), Yreka, CA (Facility ID#15314)
    • KHWA (FM), Weed, CA (Facility ID#68152)
    • FM Translators:
    K221BK (Facility ID#43920)
    K257CA (Facility ID#46742),
    K269AT (Facility ID#21748)

I spoke with one of the owners earlier this year. Yreka area got hammered by a commerce downturn due to COVID so they shutdown KHWA, stopped audio streaming and kept a tight budget.

The only local radio source now appears to be KZRO (Z100) down in Mount Shasta and they have tried numerous albeit unsuccesful attempts to expand their coverage to reach the Redding trading area.

Actually KZRO’s latest CP runs out in October and if ever implemented, would move coverage away from Yreka:

    https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=KZRO&ccode=1&city=&state=&country=US&zip=&arn=&party=&lmspf=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en

In general, I feel sorry for the radio listeners in Yreka… So sad.
