Participant“Maybe somebody will buy KMCQ and move it back to The Dalles where it belongs. “
Even if that were remotely likely, it can’t be done. The FCC has already back-filled 104.5 in The Dalles with a C2 allotment at Moro, OR.

FCC Rejects Challenges To New Washington State AM
The battle over the construction of new AM towers in the SNOHOMISH RIVER VALLEY of WASHINGTON has led to the FCC rejecting local environmentalists’ challenges to the application of CAAM PARTNERSHIP, LLC for a new AM station at SNOHOMISH, WA.
The new station is co-located with S-R BROADCASTING Sports KRKO-A/EVERETT, WA but will require two additional towers to be constructed in the flood plain. Several objections to the plans were filed, including by some of the same parties that opposed KRKO’s towers.

Proceeds would be used to redeem the Company’s outstanding 8 5/8% Senior Notes or repurchase common stock.

KING-F/Seattle Accelerates Move To Noncommercial Status
CLASSIC RADIO, INC. Classical KING-F/SEATTLE has announced that its transition from commercial to noncommercial operation is moving forward so well that the changeover will be official in MAY rather than JULY, as previously scheduled.
SEATTLEP-I.COM reports that the station’s GM JENNIFER RIDEWOOD said, “The shift to a non-commercial station will allow us more air-time for classical music, more support for the arts and an expanded education mission. With the help of SEATTLE’s strong community of classical music supporters, we will be enhancing the BULLITT sisters’ vision of a permanent classical radio station held as a community asset.”

ParticipantAhh, the Bullitt sisters and their feisty mom Dorothy. We don’t hear enough about them. They had what it takes, and they knew how to use it.

ParticipantDoes anybody know anything about KCFL (“Super CFL”) broadcasting oldies on 101.1 in the Olympia area? I heard them yesterday on I-5 from about milepost 125 down to about milepost 93 where KXL overtook them. Radio-locator.com has them licensed to Elma on 91.3. It sounds like a hobby station, although quite well done…good mix of oldies with WCFL “Super CFL” jingles.
Incidentally, 103.3 in Olympia has a retro-KGHO running oldies. Another good sounding noncommercial oldies effort.
