KAJC seemed to be running open carrier on Sunday although the streaming audio might have been working. Perhaps this audio issue was related projected studio move.

Interesting article in the Salem Reporter about the origins of 1490 in Salem.

I just noticed on the “LaRadiodePortland.com” Bustos website that the “La Pantera” logo now reflects both “93.3 FM and 940 AM”. (Absent now in the logo is KXET 1130 although the programming is still carried there. No changes in ToH IDs noted.)

The new 93.3 callsign is K227DU (ex-K228FN) and was granted by the FCC on 5/14.

Has the new 93.3 FM translator now launched from Prospect Hill?

just checked…no 93.5 and get KKNU strong in Salem already…train wreck coming…pretty nuts FCC allowing.

KSLM 1934 (according to the article). That is the same year as the F.C.C. was formed and the rules totally revamped. A lot of legacy AM stations came on the air in that year and the next, since licenses were now protected from someone putting up a more powerful co channel operation right next door.

Subtle observation: Perhaps it was just a webdesigner reloading an old logo but the “La Pantera” entry at LaRadiodePortland.com reverted to the old graphic that simply states “La Pantera 940”. The “93.3” piece now has been omitted.

BTW, the last modification aligned the K227DU 93.3 coverage with the KWBY AM contour limits – a little more signal in Dallas, less in Monmouth.

Two FCC postings on July 7 relating to K227DU, relaying KWBY “La Pantera”.

    Posting #1 “RESUMPTION OF OPERATIONS”

K228FN RETURNED TO THE AIR WITH ITS LICENSED FACILITIES ON MARCH 15, 2021 ALONG WITH THE STATION IT REBROADCAST AT THE TIME, KZGD(AM), SALEM, OREGON.

(The filing also states “Date station went silent: 04/01/2020″)

Does anyone believe filing #1 is correct?

Any DX reports yet? I would especially like to know about interference to Eugene’s 93.3… I suspect it is relaying 940, not 1390 by now. Still, Bustos has yet to add “93.3” to their on-air ID package for the translator anyway.

Sounds like an audio train wreck as expected surprisingly get Eugene better than the Salem translator from NE Salem in moving antenna around

Sometime between July 10 and 17, K228FN (KZGD) moved from 93.5 to 93.3

So far, Bustos Media has yet to add the “93.3” frequency into their ID packages or website/app graphics. The FCC paperwork says its relaying KWBY Woodburn. I assume that’s true.

A check of the KAJC transfer-of-control paperwork notes it is still in “Accepted for Filing” status (4/17). Ironically, the recent harmonization of NCE community-of-license coverage rules may ultimately mean KAJC must relinquish its Salem communiy-of-license status. After all, KAJC’s 60dBu contour does not even touch Salem. They should go for Monmouth (100%) or Independence (80%) as the new COL.

Know the upcoming new group that will be owning/running station. They are just waiting on FCC transfer that seems to be lagging due to covid. Will forward info on COL concerns.

Arturo Sarmiento on his Hispanidades show today advised listeners that their shared 98.3 signal is now in low power mode. Apparently some other tower clients are upgrading their cellular infrastructure. No completion date given.

Oh yes, while KMWV is still not streaming the station finally has a logo.. observed at cctvsalem.org

still an audio train wreck…can pick up both stations dependent on portable radio’s polarity…but in car it’s a disaster…from NE Salem…no complaints yet?

102.3 has the same issue on the west side and south of Portland. Eugene has some strong signals batting around 103.7 and 102.3. I’ve sat in my car in a Beaverton parking lot looking at the 102.3 tower and hearing to Eugene’s KEHK. I already called the 93.3 train wreck a while back.
