A pro-gun rights group in Texas re-enacted the Charlie Hebdo attacks with paintball rounds, in an attempt to see whether an “armed civilian” could have stopped the two gunmen who attacked the Paris office of the satirical magazine, killing 12. The civilian “died” in almost every scenario except immediate flight from the scene.
So, it would appear from that test that there is a need for more armed citizens. A single civilian doesn’t stand a chance, it apparently requires a greater number to handle the situation to result in a better outcome.
And the better outcome is more bullets flying? This wasn’t the OK Corral with the good guys in a line on one side and the bad guys in a line on the other – it was an office with good and bad “targets” in every direction.
Whenever it is proven in an active shooter situation like this that a “good guy with a gun” wouldn’t have helped, the gun-loving right hears the exact opposite. It’s called willful ignorance.
