A great television newscaster just died today, from the PBS NewsHour, Gwen Ifill.
Here she is at a talk she gave just two months ago to college students. She talks about the 2016 election, objectivity in journalism, and the future of the news industry:
Her PBS career was noteworthy, but her moderation of debates will be what she is remembered for. In a VP debate when Dick Cheney said he would need more than 30 seconds to answer a particular question, she interrupted with a quick “That is all the time you have”. Very nice.
This is just awful news. Gwen was my most watched news anchor. This bit of news ranks right up there with the death of Tim Russett. Both were the Cronkites of our day. 🙁
I was hoping Ifill would replace the clown on Meet The Press someday. I guess not.
