It is a sad day in Paris today, as one of the city’s most famous landmarks has been gutted. The fire is believed to have started accidentally by renovation work that was taking place. The roof and spire have collapsed, and various stained glass windows have shattered. The interior of the cathedral is believed to be a total loss.
Some recent photos that I have seen show that the damage to the interior was not as severe as had been originally feared. Nevertheless, I hope that the new roof can be built out of a non-flammable material.
