The call sign KEX went live on 12/24/16. We’ll be adding photos to this gallery all week: KEX turns 90
Jay might be alluding to KEX’s original history:
The KEX calls were originally licensed to Los Angeles by June 1913. This telegraph station was owned by the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company of America. KEX operated on 300 meters (999.3 K.C.) and 600 meters (499.6 K.C.). KEX calls were canceled in September 1916.
It’s interesting that KEX is turning 90, in that they’re on the verge of being spoon fed lately. 🙁
From Craig Adams list of pioneer stations:
“Dec 23, 1926….KEX…..670…….Portland…….Began on December 25, 1926.”

No kidding. Under a 2 in the last ratings release…how the mighty have fallen. Mark Mason may have signed on to a sinking ship.
I’m loving the old photos–particularly those showing the transmitter site and vacuum tubes.
