KXL/Portland Adds Art Bell’s New Show

ALPHA MEDIA News-Talk KXL/PORTLAND is the latest broadcast station to take ART BELL up on his offer to air his new online show. KXL will air “MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT” weeknights 10p-1a (PT), beginning MONDAY (7/20).

ALPHA VP/Programming SCOTT MAHALICK said, “We’re thrilled to be amping up our paranormal broadcast activity with the addition of ART BELL following CLYDE LEWIS’ GROUND ZERO. It’s a home run for ALPHA MEDIA to have the two biggest talents anchored on FM NEWS 101 KXL.”

SVP/Market Manager MILT MCCONNELL added, “ART is an American Original in terms of putting the paranormal on the radio landscape. We are so proud to extend his coverage to the NORTHWEST where there is a rabid appetite for his unique brand of communication.”

“I think the next NIELSEN radio ratings should hold quite a surprise and a great story,” said BELL.

Well here’s something interesting to note: Not only does Art Bell start his new show at the same time as George Norry, the theme song is the same: Giorgio Moroder’s “The Chase” (Theme from the movie Midnight Express).

It will be interesting to see if Premiere Networks, syndicator of “Coast To Coast AM with George Noory” will make this an issue. Art originally chose the theme for HIS old Coast show. Does Art have the right to continue using it since it’s been the “Coast To Coast AM” theme for at least 20 years.
