With all the politics on PDX, and frankly, not much radio news, how about something fun?

The best intro’s of songs in the rock era.

    I will nominate a few:

Simple Minds “Don’t You Forget About Me”
    Free “All Right Now”
    Yes “Roundabout”

    Wimpy top40 choice: Lookinglass “Brandy”

I know there are tons of others. Please chime in.

I think that talented air personalities, through the art of talking up the ramp, could make just about any intro sound really great. I have one old KISN aircheck where Tiger Tom Murphy plays a live recording of “If I Had a Hammer” by Trini Lopez. I have another aircheck where a different DJ plays “Al Di La” by The Ray Charles Singers. In both of these, the energy and forward momentum is amazing!

The intro to the Beach Boys’ “California Girls”
The absolutely fabulous “tripped chord” that starts off the Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand”

I have offered this one before, but it is a classic, and with a classic intro.

How about China Grove? Here is Andy Barber and Ron Leonard from 1978.

Not sure why the MediaFire link is not displaying properly. If you copy the text between the two Quotation Marks you should be able to hear the MP3.
