Rumblings that the GOP is giving up on Trump and is looking to divert money to down ballot candidates.

There are certainly plenty of rumblings to that effect. I’ve read stories from half a dozen more news sources, complete with (unattributed) Republican citation that suggest the natives are getting extremely restless. There’s certainly a sizeable, and growing, number of Republicans who are beginning to whole heartedly believe the general election is a lost cause and that Trump’s candidacy is directly imperiling the down ballot.

The Trump campaign and the RNC are having a meeting today that some press reports are characterizing as a last ditch, come to Jesus discussion. I’d imagine the RNC will not/would not publically comment on the larger strategy at this point, much less acknowledge they’re considering shifting focus from the general to the Senate for a variety of reasons including the volatility of Trump himself, but it has to be getting close to that decision point.

Certainly if Trump’s prospects have not significantly improved by the beginning of September I think you can count on it as a certitude the Republicans are going to fall back into full blown defense mode.

From a Politico story on the matter, here’s an interesting quote from insider: ““While it’s true that previous candidates have come back from greater deficits to win, it won’t happen in 2016. The electorate is far more base-driven, with fewer persuadables,” said an Iowa Republican. “Trump is underperforming so comprehensively across states and demographics it would take video evidence of a smiling Hillary drowning a litter of puppies while terrorists surrounded her with chants of ‘Death to America!’ But in 2016, stranger things have happened.”

    Ok then.

To that point, of stranger things already have happened this election cycle, no shit. LOL.

Billionaire GOP businessman promises more than $2 million in campaign donations … For Hillary Clinton

The Hispanic vote is a giant driving force in the United States, and is growing exponentially. Trump’s blatant disregard for the Hispanic folks, alone, will ensure that Hillary wins come November.
