I can’t wait for the O’Haters to start trashing this move, which makes sense to every other sane person in the known universe:

United States and Cuba agree to establish diplomatic relations

    About time.

We miss out too. Music for one. Cuban music is great!

Cuba is also one of the great vacation destinations in the entire world, with unparalelled natural beauty. Of course, having the world’s best rum and cigars also doesn’t hurt. 😀

Has anyone heard from Ted Cruz on this yet?

For the most part, I would view this as a good thing.

As Lyndon Johnson once said about one of his enemies . . . “better to have them inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in.”

What kind of threat is Cuba?

The big worry in Cuba is calories. No joke.

Now, Cuba as a location for a military base of some kind? That could be a threat, and frankly I see this as Obama does it before Putin does.

Either way, this whole mess has gone on long enough. Good, ordinary people are caught up in the middle.

We already have a base in Cuba, and have for decades. It’s called Gitmo.

Yes, but friendly relations could change that, depending on who the friends are. More than one base, ours compromised, etc..

Maybe there isn’t anything to that idea too.

I would like to think there isn’t.

    Bingo! My thoughts exactly.

I agree with Missing. This move could head off a future attempt by Russia to use Cuba as a base of some sort. Putin has demonstrated he might try any number of things to annoy us.

Keeping the embargo on kept the Cuban exiles in South Florida voting for Republicans. Their children were just the opposite for the most part.

Rubio, is fit to be tied.

We’ve been at this embargo thingy for 50 years and it hasn’t done much. Seems time to try something else.

This is welcome news. Current policy is dated by about 30 years.

Clearly there is a better way towards our overall goal with Cuba’s relationship with the US.

It has. The fall of the evil empire.
