    Too bad for Carl.

    Andy Brown

I heard last month he was tired of not making any money and was thinking of getting out of the biz.

    Dan Packard

On yesterday’s Think Out Loud from Oregon Public Broadcasting, Carl Wolfson talks about ending his talk show on X-Ray radio.

Wolfson talks about heavy vitriol he has experienced from both those on the far left and far right of the political spectrum.

This emerging polarization has coincided with the 1987 deregulation of the Fairness Doctrine, which required stations to air controversial viewpoints in an equitable and honest manner, and the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which consolidated media ownership into mostly large corporations.

Carl’s final talk show is on February 15.

Sorry to see Carl go especially in an election year but I can certainly understand he must be tired of the endless grind to keep a community funded program like his up and running. Certainly he can make more coin with his excellent stand-up routine.
