Both KPOJ and KEX are off the air this evening. So far, on 620 I’ve logged KIGS Hanford, CA. On 1190 I’ve logged CFSL Weyburn, SK, and KGBN Anaheim, CA. Verified by SDR. 1200 CJRJ Vancouver, BC sure splatters.

That’s a fairly rare DXing opportunity. They were both up and down during the last storm and I heard pretty much what you heard, but I didn’t notice Anaheim then. It was nice hearing the first adjacents too.

Unfortunately, by the time that I saw this thread, both KPOJ and KEX had returned to the air. I had been looking forward to hearing CJRJ in AM stereo and DXing some of the other stations.

The last time I recall 620 being off the air was when they were attempting to troubleshoot problems with broadcasting IBOC. I recall hearing a frequency-swept carrier under the co-channel stations while this was happening. In my hazy recollection, this was some time in 2005.

You didn’t mention 1180 in Kalispell Montana. Also, did 1200 move from Victoria?

1200 is CJRN Vancouver. “Bollywood”. Can hear them in Boise some nights.

CKXM 1200 Victoria BC gave up its AM frequency and flipped to FM in May 2000. It is now CJZN-FM 91.3. An entirely new station, CJRJ 1200 Vancouver BC, went on the air in Dec 2007 (some sources give the date as Nov 2006.)

CKDA was a Top 40 station in Victoria on 1220 before moving to 1200, at about the same time that the Seattle area 1220 moved to 1210. They covered Vancouver fairly well, at least with an old long car antenna. KING and KJR were pretty good too.

There were 3 stations that I could hear on 1180. The strongest and the only one I could ID was KLAY in Lacey, WA. I’m sure one of the others was KOFI but did not get an ID.

    top40bob, I was using my Kenwood TS-590. I have an R7 verticle and a B&W folded dipole.
I also have a couple of CCrane radios as well.

Hey Pat, your unidentified 1180 might have been KERN down near Bakersfield.

Did they move from 1410 or is this a different one?

There’s still a 1410 in Bakersfield but it’s KERI now.
