I have admired the operation of Jefferson Public Radio for many years now. JPR is a cultural gem based in Ashland at Southern Oregon University. They have various formats and a network of stations stretching from Eugene southward into Northern California. It’s a quasi mix of properties owned by both the JPR foundation (8 frequencies) and Southern Oregon University (14 frequencies).

A dispute is brewing between the Oregon University System and the JPR foundation over operation and control of the radio network. Executive director Ron Kramer’s termination by Southern Oregon University takes effect on June 30. The stations span both Oregon and California, complicating matters of FCC licensing and ownership.
