We posted at the same time!
I just added this to the other thread!
"Looks like they are going to file charges.

I think he will look good in prison orange.

I seem to recall attempting to explain the legal concept of “manslaughter” to Fair and Balanced in another thread.
Wait for it...

A review:
Manslaughter is usually broken down into two distinct categories: voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter. In states such as Florida, manslaughter is not broken down this way. In Florida, manslaughter, defined as: The killing of a human being by the act, procurement, or culpable negligence of another, without lawful justification according to the provisions of chapter 776 and in cases in which such killing shall not be excusable homicide or murder . . . is a second degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in state prison regardless of whether the act may have been intentional or not.[2] If manslaughter is committed upon a child via culpable negligence under FL statute 827.03(3), then the crime is aggravated manslaughter of a child which is a first degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in state prison.[3] The penalty is the same if it is committed upon the elderly or disabled. Also, under the 10-20-Life system, if a firearm is used in any way then the penalty will be raised to the next degree.[4]
2 "FL statute 782.07". FL Senate.
3 "FL statute 827.03(3)". FL Senate.
4 "FL statute 775.087(1)". FL Senate.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manslaughter
Also, earlier today, Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Justice Department will take appropriate action in the killing of Trayvon Martin if it finds evidence that a federal criminal civil rights crime has been committed.

Another bullshit thread by Vitalogy. "Zimmerman Charged!". As of the time of the thread being started, Zimmerman had not been charged as Vitalogy so boldly shouted in his headline. The only thing that had happened was that the Special Prosecutor stated they would make an announcement with new information.
Even NBC, which Vitalogy linked to had it correct for a change in saying "Zimmerman to be charged".
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 12:42 PM # -
Looking forward to 3:00 PM
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 12:43 PM # -
Does anyone believe he won't be charged?
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 12:47 PM # -
For one who insists on provabale facts from others, yes Vit should wait until it is a fact before he proclaims it as such.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 12:51 PM # -
I don't think we know what's coming despite all the headlines.
"Corey’s office released a statement saying it would hold a news conference “to release new information regarding the Trayvon Martin shooting death investigation” at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Jacksonville, Fla."
The announcement only says "release new information". Other sources are quoting a law enforcement individual as saying there would be criminal charges. Wouldn't be the first time stories got out wrong and the herd mentality of the media started feeding on the misinformation.
Another big question is whether or not they have Zimmerman in sight. Are they ready to make a physical arrest?
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 12:56 PM # -
"...And now for the rumors behind the news..." It's a Firesign World.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 01:11 PM # -
I think we do know what's coming and the headlines will prove essentially correct, Deane.
He's going to be charged.
As to your last, I kind of doubt it. When the time comes the authorities will issue a warrant and either George will turn himself in or they'll go find him. His choice.
Much like the choices he alone made that led to his impending predicament in the first place.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 01:11 PM # -
I think Vitalogy just wanted to beat everybody else to the punch with the headline itself in anticipation of there actually being charges filed. It is likely that this thread will last a long time.
Shep Smith on Fox..who spent some years before anchoring in NYC used to anchor at WSVN, the fox affiliate in Miami, said his sources in Fla law enforcement down there said that they are " not concerned in any regard " about finding or knowing where Zimmerman is right now.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 01:36 PM # -
Deane, I like a guy that's willing to be wrong all the way down the line.
The decision to charge him has already been made, so in effect, he's been charged. Just not publically announced yet. Only question is what will the charges be?
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 01:38 PM # -
Aggravated manslaughter.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 02:07 PM # -
Yeah ..or Agravated Assault.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 02:22 PM # -
Yahoo News is reporting that he will be charged w/2nd Degree Murder. He's expected to be arrested momentarily, if he isn't already.
Best, M.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 02:46 PM # -
NBC is reporting Zimmerman is in custody.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 02:56 PM # -
Cooked. And ahem, charged.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 02:58 PM # -
I'm surprised with a 2nd degree murder charge. There must be more evidence that we don't know about. I was expecting manslaughter.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 02:59 PM # -
Of course there is more evidence than you know about.
There always has been.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 03:10 PM # -
If that was the case, then why was he not arrested that night?
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 03:11 PM # -
Awesome. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can now jerk each other off in celebration.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 04:03 PM # -
Z took his gun out of the truck intending to confront T, hence the M2 rap. He should have been grilled right then. Selectively shoddy police work can have an unfair result too. Again, I think another underlying issue is the reluctance of authorities to cross the NRA over the application of the 'stand your ground' law, which most of us agree should not apply here.
Z was not arrested that night, because Judge Daddy was apparently on the phone pulling strings with higher ups from the getgo.

And just about everyone has an opinion about Zimdog and that includes Iron Mike who would enjoy the job of jailer.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 04:33 PM # -
Mike Tyson has an opinion on the matter? I can't wait to hear what a guy who rapes and beats women has to say on the issue.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 04:55 PM # -
Couldn't be any more lackluster than someone who writes "Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can now jerk each other off in celebration."
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 05:03 PM # -
Well then that is where you are wrong. I made a joke and Jackson and Sharpton pleasuring each other and Tyson is talking about violence.
Murder infact.

WOW!
Deane was wrong.... JHC call the National Inquirer!

Thanks Andy. I have to admit I'm a sidebar fan. And yes, it's great that in this country of ours, opinions are like asholes, everyone has one.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 07:04 PM # -
I just heard yesterday that Zimm's old man was a retired Judge !!I think retired is what I heard...Looks bad..
But remember , this investigation was taken over by the State of Florida within 2 jor 3 days of the shooting...it was apparent that the whole thing was a hot button issue , or soon would be. Before most of the rest of us even heard about it.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 07:20 PM # -
Something is odd about this case. Zimmerman's first alleged lawyer team backing off due to no communication in two days is just plain weird. Perhaps there is more to that story that will come out. Just smells, IMO.
The media, on the other hand are performing just as expected. (Even CBS Evening News w/Scott Pelley led with this story tonight.) They are making this story huge, when in reality this sort of stuff happens everyday. Maybe because it is Florida, maybe because Obama reacted to it, maybe because the media needs stories like this to fuel themselves.
Posted on April 11, 2012 - 07:32 PM # -
maybe because the media needs stories like this to fuel themselves.
We have a winner!

Its like I said in another string...This true story has so many juicy elements to it ...you could NOT write a better script for say..Law and Order ...or a Lifetime Channel Mini Series...
Teen Tragedy, Racism, Profiling, possible police corruption and/or ineptitude, Thugery from the NEW Blank Panthers and others, A controversial State Law, Media Bias ( Thanks to NBC ),Rather dumb posturing by certain law makers -State and Federal.
Why watch entertainment TV channels when you could just follow this on any News Channel and then blog on it all day long..just like I am doing right now...

Daring to attack the sacred cow, NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg echoes my sentiments about excessive NRA influence:

Martin's mother was on the Today show this morning, and she reportedly said that she thinks the shooting was an "accident."

Now she's "clarifying," saying that the shooting was NOT an accident, but having Zimmerman and her son cross paths was:

"Daring to attack the sacred cow, NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg echoes my sentiments about excessive NRA influence:"
Bloomberg is one of the most anti 2nd amendment people in the US.
The sooner he is out of office and public life the better off the people of NYC will be.
Posted on April 12, 2012 - 11:39 AM # -
He’d like to make it harder for crazy people, felons, or the simply deranged to purchase an assault rifle. While at the same time in no real way abrogating your 2nd amendment rights.
Clearly, the man is unhinged.

It's an amendment for a reason!

In 'Merica, we like to have the right to purchase and then utilize an anti-tank missile. They're great for home defense.
Should you dare to opine such a sentiment is perhaps somewhere below the standard of basic pragmatism or outside the interest of the general public good, clearly you’re a no-good Commie.
Liberals: Coming to take your guns away from you. Any…minute…now. Wait for it…any…minute…now. No, wait. I mean NEXT term it’ll happen. Or the one after that. I mean, c’mon, it’s coming. Any…minute…now. Don’t you know that any form for gun control is tantamount to wanting to overturn the 2nd amendment? Don’t you watch Fox News? That’s what the liberals want. Rush and the NRA said so. Any…minute…now…

How does someone with 3 prior arrests get a permit to carry a weapon?
Posted on April 12, 2012 - 01:21 PM # -
In the two-page affidavit, which The Orlando Sentinel said it had obtained before it was filed with the court, prosecutors said Zimmerman "confronted Martin and a struggle ensued." Zimmerman has claimed he shot in self-defense Feb. 26 in Sanford after Martin knocked him to the ground and began beating him in the face.
Zimmerman called police for advice because he thought Martin was suspicious, the affidavit says. He was told to wait for officers to arrive, and when the police dispatcher repeated his instructions for Zimmerman to stop, Zimmerman disregarded him, it says.
During the police call, the affidavit says, Zimmerman "made reference to people he felt had committed and gotten away with break-ins in his neighborhood." While talking about Martin, it alleges, he referred to "these f---ing punks" and "these a--holes" who "always get away."
During this time, the affidavit says, "Martin was on the phone with a friend and described to her what was happening. The witness advised that Martin was scared because he was being followed through the complex by an unknown male and didn't know why."
When Martin tried to run home, "Zimmerman got out of his vehicle and followed Martin," it says.
"Zimmerman confronted Martin and a struggle ensued," it says.
A person's cries for help could be heard in recorded 911 calls, the affidavit says, and Martin's mother "identified the voice crying for help as Trayvon Martin's voice."
-I'll be serving crow for those that have been defending the dirtbag Zimmerman.

"How does someone with 3 prior arrests get a permit to carry a weapon?"
It depends on if he was convicted or not. Just being arrested won't prevent you from getting a permit.
In WA if you are a convicted felon or have any DV on your record you can't get a CHL, and rightfully so. OR is the same way and I suspect most if not all other states are also. When I applied for my UT permit they asked the same questions.
They do an FBI background check and you have to submit your fingerprints when you apply for a CHL. In some states (OR for one) you have to take a class before you can even apply for your CHL.

"-I'll be serving crow for those that have been defending the dirtbag Zimmerman."
No need since nobody (here) has defended Zimmerman.
But I will continue to stick my neck out on this, and this is not a defense but a prediction--he won't be convicted of second degree murder or of manslaughter. I think it's likely he'll walk, but if not, he will be convicted of something less than manslaughter.
If the results of the trial prove me wrong, then you can serve all the crow you like.
