-----------------------------KRKT & KRWQ's Scott & Angie Schuler Have Daughter-----------------------------

Congrats to BICOASTAL MEDIA Country KRKT/ALBANY, OR PD and sister KRWQ/MEDFORD, OR MD SCOTT SCHULER and morning co-host/wife ANGIE SCHULER on the birth of their daughter SUNNY. The couple also has a son, LINCOLN, who is four.

SCOTT had a phoner scheduled with CAPITOL RECORDS group LADY ANTEBELLUM’s DAVE HAYWOOD on the day his wife went into labor. SCOTT got a phone call from HAYWOOD while in the delivery room and had to tell him they would have to reschedule.

  3. Speaking of having babies while working in the radio biz. My bride of 22 years Barb and I had our first child while working at Z100. Our daughter was born on Good Friday in 1993. The next morning among the many phone calls I made I called the station.

By that afternoon we had received flowers and a card from the station. Also unbeknownst to us the on-air staff had been announcing the birth on the air as well. When we finally got home the following day we had tons of phone calls from family and friends who said they had heard on Z100 we had our daughter.

Our first doctor visit since the birth we were greeted by the receptionist who said to us.."oh I have heard all about this baby!!"

It was truly a classy move on Z100s part and really made Barb and myself feel apart of the Z100 family.

  8. OMG!!!!!!!!

That was totally scary and awesome at the same time. The show ran from 6:30a-8a. We did Rock of Ages for about 2 years. Loads of fun. I do have parts of that show around the house somewhere on tape.

Before we were told the show was to be cancelled we started pre-recording the day before. Barb and I would bring in Aubrey in her car seat and as long as she could see us working she'd be fine. We would put a large reel to reel in motion and do the show "live" onto tape all commercials included. This allowed us, being new parents to sleep after many sleepless nights.

  10. Speaking of Bicoastal's Bay Area cluster, I have always wondered why 97.3 KSHR's signal is so poor. Are they broadcasting into the side of a mountain? They have the smallest coverage area of any C1 signal in Oregon. I wish they would move 97.3 KSHR to the 94.9 KTEE & 107.3 KOOS tower, which provides a signal that travels up and down most of the Oregon Coast, and over the mountains.

  11. I get 92.3 KGON in Coos Bay better then 97.3 KSHR that station has never reached the bay area very well. Poor signal indeed.

  36. Okay. This is TV-related but still a nice article.

Yes, KOBI has a terrific TV translator network. I recently visited northern Curry County. Only OPB and KOBI could be reliably viewed via translators with an over-the-air digital set. (A nice cross-water fog-based tropoduct opening did add two Eureka UHFers to the mix.)

The FCC has proposed a $3,000 fine against TALLIE COLVILLE for failing to timely file a post-auction Form 301 application for a new FM at DIAMOND LAKE, OR, although the Commission did grant a waiver request to reinstate the application for filing.

COLVILLE won the permit in FM Auction 91 but failed to file the form on time because, she said, she "was not ready to submit the application by the filing deadline."

  41. Peter sent me an E-Mail to post. He forgot his password:

An earlier post had KTMT as CHR/ROCK in 1983. The Johnson family thought it was rock but it reall was A/C and not hot A/C. I was Local Sales Manager in 83 and part of 84 before I got fed up. Then I went to work for CCC in Tulsa. That brought fed up to a whole new level.

To me, "a local State University" would mean Oregon or Oregon State or maybe even Willamette U. ...which would suggest a Willamette Valley location, not Eastern Oregon. But the line at the end, "the economic, educational, recreational, and cultural hub for Eastern Oregon" suggests that we're talking about something in the Bend/Redmond area...

    Best, M.

Probably the 1030 in La Grande. That bit about "economic, educational, blah blah" is lifted straight from the Vision Statement on the city's home page (although I think Pendleton more closely fits the description...).

    201+ includes:

    203 Bend
    206 Medford/Ashland

AS far as I know there are no CPs for 1kw 2 tower in Bend. Can't be Medford/Ashland beacause it's not Eastern Oregon.

Here is a list of all the CP's for AM's in Oregon:

    http://tinyurl.com/3rg8noa

Like Bossjock, I'd guess it's La Grande @1030 kHz since it is DA and Eastern Oregon U. is there.
Enterprise is further East but it isn't DA nor is there a school in the Oregon State University system there.

In filings with the FCC, BASIN MEDIACTIVE, LLC is selling Top 40 KYSF (HOT 102.9)/BONANZA, OR to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $125,000. BASIN, headed by TOM and ROBERT INGSTAD, bought KYSF earlier this year as part of its $600,000 purchase of the former NEW NORTHWEST BROADCASTERS cluster in KLAMATH FALLS from receiver ALAN DAVIS' REVITALIZATION PARTNERS, LLC.

  50. This is sad news! Hot 102.9 was the best sounding CHR in Klamath Falls.
