  1. Looking good Dan! The new layout is very functional and less confusing.

I think the blockquote tag is broken now. I've got a test post up, with the markup tags all used, with code for a better test.

    Here's a test:

    <blockquote>This is a test.</blockquote>

    This is a test.

The short block of text above used to be displayed indented with a green bar that differentiated it as quoted material. Now it's just text...

  2. I just emailed Dan about how now the freshness link to the last post in the thread now gives me a little question mark It's kind of handy in light of the length of some threads to be able to go right to the end and scroll up a little instead of big time scrolling to the bottom, then maybe having to click on p.2, etc.

What I would like to see (if it is even possible with this software) is a "reply on demand" thing like the old Discus system had--you know, the little "Reply" box at the very bottom of the thread where you could enter your response to the conversation, and handle/pass without having to actually log in beforehand.......

I liked that method far better, personally--I could pull up the board, quick post a bit of snark where/when necessary and continue on with my other work. From my experience so far (your results may vary, of course) logging in on this system is horrid through dialup. The rest of the system works fine, nice and quick. Go figure. ;o)

Some of the smaller details need to get worked out. Top priority right now is getting the speed back up to a respectable level. Sometimes, it feels like being back on dial-up. Thanks for the comments, bugs and suggestions.

  7. It is.

The last change we did took me quite a while. This one just worked in minutes! The bugs will get worked out soon enough.

To be clear, I didn't start this thread to hammer on Dan. Just thought it would be helpful to post up teething pain type stuff.

    Edit: Editing works for me!

Let's see if it now works. No?
Edit: Yes, it now shows after clearing browser cache, closing, rebooting, getting a cup of coffee and counting to 500.

  9. Nice!! Thanks.

The grey is better than the green too.

Any chance at a color tag? Some of us here like the colors.

  10. Love the new front page.

Kind of miss "Portland Radio Message Board."

On the other hand, Interact seems hip, kind of new and a bit trendy!

    1. Added a search box to bottom of the front page.
    2. Changed dates on post pages to show exact time and date rather than xx day, months, years ago. (There ya go Craig!)

Looks like the hour hand had to be wound backwards manually. Lets see if it shows correctly now.
    Edit: It does. Thanks Pete!

Dan, FYI, are you syncing with an NTP server? My FreeBSD server is synced with an NTP server and when I woke up this morning the time had been adjusted correctly. I'm really glad I set that up (not just to handle DST but also to keep the time correct; generally the RTC clocks on most computers I've seen drift quickly).

The problem wasn't with the time sync, but with the underlying template of this board. I hear ya about some of the computer clocks drifting, especially on cheaper motherboards. It's nice that most of the newer operating systems automatically time sync with NTP servers on a daily or weekly basis and also automatically adjust for daylight/standard time. I remember a few years back when you had to tell WIndows to yes, please change the time. Not today. I mistakenly figured the board software would do the same. Thanks for the input!
