SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sarah Palin will get first-class airfare for two and three rooms at a luxury hotel when she gives a speech in June for a university foundation.

And organizers better not forget to stock her lectern with two water bottles and bendable straws.

The details of Palin's contract with the California State University, Stanislaus Foundation were contained in five pages of the document retrieved from a campus trash bin by students who heard administrators might be shredding documents related to the speech.

Among other perks, the former Alaska governor will fly first class from Anchorage to California — if she flies commercial. If not, "the private aircraft MUST BE a Lear 60 or larger ...," the contract specifies.

The document, dated March 16, does not include compensation details for Palin, who commands speaking fees as high as $100,000. Her appearance at the university's 50th anniversary gala is expected to draw a large crowd, with tickets selling for $500 each.

  2. This is no surprise. Once she figured out how rich the media environment really is here in the lower 48, she could not resist!

Why stay in Alaska, when she can be here, doing what she does best and getting well compensated for it?

  4. I've seen enough "riders" over the years where nothing surprises me. Many times, it isn't the talent that demands the perks, it is those surrounding them, trying to score points. Most talent, regardless of level of success, or in this case, politcal lean, have these demands in place. It is nothing new. I don't read much into these contracts at all.

  5. These kinds of contracts are nothing new. Entertainers of all kinds us them all the time. It's standard procedure. I really have no problem with Palin's or Gore's contracts. It's how they are earning their living.

Palin is long overdue for a Michael Richards moment. Just wait.

  8. I thought her rousing speech in front of the rabid faithful at Weimar... or rather the RNC... was one that showed her true colors.

Riders are not unusual, but what they ask for can be interesting. Van Halen's sorted M&Ms requirement was beyond dumb. The Beatles refusal to play segregated arenas was savvy and brave. Neil Young requires lighting that will not provoke his seizures. U2 has to have their own espresso machine.

Sarah Palin will do anything for money. If I had the cash I would trick her into going to Dorchester -- a week early -- and send her into a room packed full of drunk hecklers well stocked with rotten fruit. Of course, it would all end up on Youtube in glorious color.

I assume you all saw the mixed reviews she received for her speech at the booze distributors convention in Vegas. When an industry counts on strict state regulations and the three tier system for their profits, the last thing you should do is go on-and-on-and-on-and-on about deregulation.

Ooopsy-daisy, she forgot to write it all down on her hand.

You could put that on PPV and it would draw bigger buyrates than a combined UFC, Wrestlemania, and a Mayweather bout.

    ROTFLMFAO.

And yes it is only a matter of time before a major slip of the tongue snafu on her part. Probally will be something directed at her own followers or the GOP.

Oh and littlesongs I am stealing that for a FB status update.

There's nothing wrong with politicians like Sarah Palin making nice speaking fees like this - why not? Perks too. I see nothing at all wrong with it. If a foundation is paying for it, so be it. Sounds like the University of California itself is not paying for it. (Though to be fair, both Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama spoke at University of California campuses for free.)

I don't know what, if any, that greedy SOB Al Gore was paid for his September 2005 speech on global warming at the Oregon Convention Center - but unlike Sarah Palin's $500/ticket deal at University of California, Gore charged a whopping $0 per person to get in (or $0 per person group rate). And when people packed the hall at Gore's talk and left hundreds of people standing outside unable to get in, that arrogant bastard Gore had the gall to give his talk a SECOND time - again charging an outrageous $0 per person - to do it all over again. Damn, these greedy politicians are all alike. They're all just like Sarah Palin.

  12. Sarah Palin is a ' Glam psuedo candidate " . She has her message. A lot of people buy it. It is simple and rather black and white, right and wrong much like you get when you go to church and listen to a sermon.

Lot of people like this in their lives. It makes them feel better about their core opinions. Makes them feel like they have friends out there who are influencial and important and therefore makes them feel like they are important too.

Sarah Palin is just riding the crest of ' her wave ' ...much like we all have in our own lives...maybe that crest for many of us hasnt been has high but we all have had at least one crest to ride , some of us have had several crests to standup on our surf boards and see the great view.

So, it is just about riding the high water for Sarah right now.

And that dimwit Al Gore wasn't smart enough to QUIT at the peak of his popularity to rake in even more loot as a private citizen.

But in his defense, there is something about being a quitter that he couldn't quite stomach.

  14. Palin contract dispute raises questions about accountability of Calif. university foundations

The state attorney general's office announced Tuesday it would investigate California State University, Stanislaus and its foundation for their handling of a contract related to the speech scheduled in June by Palin.

The liberal whining here is certainly consistent with myopic democrat loyalties.

So where's the complaining when Robert Kennedy Jr., or Al Gore, or so many other democrats and assorted Hollywood liberals take money while hypocritically flying around in their carbon-spewing airplanes and cars?

And you guys wonder why Mr. Obama and congress are now experiencing an all-time low in popularity?

HD, among other things, sez: And you guys wonder why Mr. Obama and congress are now experiencing an all-time low in popularity?

Yet somehow Mr. Obama and Congress manage to pass some legislation that no president or Congress in 70 years succeeded in doing so.

Me thinks there is no meat to any of the comments made by HD.

  18. Nahh, just the sizzle.

You bring the steak when you can point to those people and their solutions that will significantly improve the state of things for the middle class.

This administration would actually have a much better short term impact, if it were not for Republicans and Corporate America working their asses off double time to keep the people from seeing the product of their Democracy.

    Why is this?

Simple, if we actually do get reform, and it actually works, the people will go for more of it, and that means less at the top for the big corporations, and frankly the risk / reward ratio for just fucking us over is favorable, and so it's being done. The Republicans are just in it for power, and because they do well when big business does well, and the both of them could give two shits about us.

Get back to me when you've identified somebody, or some body of politicians, who actually has our interests in mind, has put ideas on the table that stand a chance of working, and we can talk.

Until then, you are doing all of us more harm than good right now.

You point to corrupt Chicago-style politics as an example of democrat success?

So that's why the left is running scared, with plenty of democrats about to lose their seats, or deciding not to run again.

It's an off-year election, folks. Prepare for the impact of big-time political change.

If you want to talk about corrupt politics, you need to looking at the Bush administration. Starting with lying about WMD in Iraq.

  25. Fact challenged, belligerent, similar syntax, rote recitation of Beck/Hannity-type talking points, limp attempts at civility and objective reasoning to 'prove' how he's not really that type of person at all...the similarities are remarkable.

I wonder if he's smart enough to be posting from a different IP address this time?
