  1. "The Czar of Texas Radio" Michael Berry is coming to KEX Noon to 3pm. Just heard a promo on KEX. This guy sounds upset. Will he out Lars, Lars Larson?

    OUT Lars? Is Lars gay?

  3. NO! Will he be more confronting to guests than Lars? The word "confrontation" replaced with "Lars" name, meaning the same thing. Will he out Lars, Lars Larson? Get it?

  4. I would assume that KEX is picking up the KPRC feed, not that Berry is moving to Portland. Once again, a chance for a big local station to do a local show... lost.
    Hope I'm wrong... but...

  5. Just heard the date. Michael Berry starts on KEX Monday April 4th. I believe this was another promo and he was yelling even more. Should be interesting.

Who in that building thinks this is a fit for PDX?

The accent and Texas-centric content will be major tuneout factors - even before the stupid parody songs kick in.

  7. He's the Glen Beck of Texas. It's a lot of hooting, hollering, lowest common denominator, conspiracy theory cradling, nonsense.

In comparison, Lars is a calm voice of reason.

    To sound like an old guy, which I am;

I remember when KEX was basically the gold standard radio station here in PDX. Professionals all around, local, balanced, etc. The "go to" news and information station for years.

What a long, slow decline it's been.

This is what radio broadcasting has become.

The corporate pigs are on a roll.

Et tu, Chris? You hired a dyed in the wool bigot to pollute our local airwaves with hate. Where is your civic pride? K-E-X still rolls off the tongue like poetry, but the beauty has faded to nothing.

Remember when we were all starting out and those three call letters stood for everything that was good about local broadcasting? All the warm fuzzies I had for your success as a fellow KBPS alumni are gone.

Guess none of us knew the real you back in the day. Have a nice life buddy.

  12. This from All Access:

----------------------------------------KEX Adds Michael Berry For Middays----------------------------------------

KEX has added sister CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KTRH-A and KPRC-A/HOUSTON host MICHAEL BERRY's show for noon-3p PT, replacing MIKE SIEGEL. PD CHRIS SARGENT said, "We are excited to add MICHAEL BERRY and his unique show to the KEX line up. MICHAEL has proven himself a new age communicator and entertainer. MICHAEL has the rare ability to take on controversial subjects and yet be able to have civil conversation with those who do not agree with him. Maybe that is a bit of his southern charm or just a sign of the kind person he is. I feel that MICHAEL will have established KEX fans wanting more every day and will bring new fans to this great radio station."

Gone are the days when you could count on KEX as being the station in town you relied on for locally-based DJ's who knew this city better than anyone (Barney Keep, Bob Swanson, etc.), easy middle-of-the-road music to listen to, and the ever reliable Paul Harvey newscasts from ABC three times a day. Now they're clearly going talk leaning strongly toward Lars' audience. No wonder KOPB does so well...Best, M.

Sounds like he is the latest CC/Premiere flavor of the day talk show host.
