Kidd Chris' laugh track/parrot. Truly suited to his talents.

  2. I saw Marconi's Facebook post about some change coming to KUFO mornings - is this what he meant?

I went through Carolla cancellation, the sadly ill-fated Rick Emerson period, and listened to the first Kidd Chris show (6 months ago?) to find out what my new morning show would be. When I read Marconi's post last night I honestly could not come up with KUFO's current morning show. I didn't think they had one.

  3. According to the latest PPM for AMD I saw; they kind of don't.

  5. This from All Access:

--------------------------------KUFO Adds Marconi To Kidd Chris' Morning Show--------------------------------

ALPHA BROADCASTING Rock KUFO/PORTLAND has added market veteran MARCONI to The KIDD CHRIS Show. The new lineup debuted this morning with sports reporter PORKCHOP.

"This is a rock radio show done the way it should be: LOCAL," commented KUFO PD DITCH. "While other stations in town pipe in national shows via satellite, we have paired up two incredibly talented guys right here in PORTLAND. They each bring something different and unique to the show and I can't wait to see how this evolves over time. It’s already great!"

  6. I listened to the Kidd Chris show when it first came and and gave it a few tries but never found it funny.

Maybe they can do better now with the new lineup. Always been a big supporter of Porkchop so its good to see him still around.

  9. It should be the "Marconi Show" in mornings at KUFO. Kidd Chris may have been a great success in other markets, but he hasn't been able to grab a significant audience here.

My take...The minute that morning show contract expires they will flip it to a soft rock format and try to pinch off a slice of K103 FM's massive bulk of AQH and Cume combined. It will be either them or Charlies demise even though Charlie cash flows well due to very little expense. I'm shocked that nobody has done this! I do not think anybody is going to beat K103 but my god...that is a valid format if I ever heard one! UFO's morning show is a dog with nasty fleas and they know it. Expensive one to boot.

  12. *Marconi had his shot at morning radio, he failed pretty bad at it.* lol i guess taking the knrk am show from 15th to 3rd in the market is a failure? cashing that bonus check felt like fail to me.

whether you like it or not i am local pdx radio. i have always dealt with haters head on and have always done well with my audience. i don't give a fuck if you like me. you don't have a ppm meter.

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 07:40 AM #
  13. Marconi is right, he does take on his haters head on. One comment i made about him on the old board got me quite the swear filled tirade in my email box from him LOL. The funny thing is, it wasnt even hateful, it was just critical of one area of his presentation.

I agree, he IS local PDX radio...but the question we need to ask ourselves is, does that make him part of the solution, or part of the problem. Both are equally possible, as many parts of local PDX radio are brilliant, and many parts of it are painfully small market.

To be honest, i'm pretty ambivilent about his hiring. I don't listen, so it doesnt bother me. Everyone has the right to work, and if someone wants to hire them, seriously, good for them! I wish him and KUFO well...i'm not the type to wish someone ill, so i hope they get great ratings...i want to see local shows justify more local shows. It benefits the radio community as a whole to see something like this succeed.

But Marconi, I'd be careful, there ARE people in this forum with PPM meters....

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 08:19 AM #
  14. everyone here is clearly a radio expert. being careful is for losers.

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 09:00 AM #
  15. Okay, so who's doing nights on KUFO now?

Marconi is the only long-time Portlander on that station, and you know I'm all about the local. And while I may not be a listener, it's a step in the right direction to tout the locality of the show.

Wow.....what an ego.....second fiddle to a lame PDX morning show and this much attitude? When will you he be doing another "brilliant" stunt.....oh like say....beheadings?

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 09:48 AM #
  17. That's right dodger. You so get it. *second fiddle*? what does that make you? lol i love dumb people on this board. you are so easy to fuck with.

Dodger, the whole firing thing wasn't a joke. Why are you trying to make a mockery of it? That's fucked up man. Are you a terrorist or something? WTF?

Bring something new and stingy. Something that hasn't already been done for you. Maybe if you said something more *original* like *hey your show is unlistenable* or *you suck* I would have some respect, but you have crossed a line and I feel taken it too far. You'll never work in this town again!

Wow, this thread is VERY entertaining!!! Too bad the radio show isn't.

  28. Marconi can hold his own, and I am most certainly not defending him in any way, however what's being brought to the forefront here is something from six years ago. If a crash on the freeway was cleared half an hour ago but was a major tie-up, the traffic report airing now describes it as "ancient history." Let's let it be water under the bridge and move on.

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 06:31 PM #
  29. lol robp has my new favorite hackneyed line of this thread.

thank you MOD, but these dopes have nothing new to say. they are a fucking bore fest of dullards. no one need defend anything. they can hold onto everything they want to. it's just unintelligent droning on.

these type of people are so small minded and moronic. they don't like me so they try to bring up the past, but they really have nothing.

much the same way blow hard conservative talk hosts develop all sound the same and say the same nothing bs. these people have always said the same negative things no matter what i've ever done.

believe me no one else gives a fuck. i still have an audience and i am still having fun.

they live in their own heads. these types of people should be avoided and told to fuck off as much as possible. they are idiots who have nothing else going on in life. anytime i make a move in my career they come out and say the same dumb shit.

i guess i am entertained by how typically they respond. i've now grown bored with taunting them to get them to react. by now

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 06:55 PM #
  30. Look at Marconi, he finally grew some balls. I have to agree with Rob, too bad your show isn't this entertaining.

Drop the act Marconi, you can act as if you dont give a fuck but your presence here is proof you most certainly do.

  32. One should probably be winning month to month (to month) in PPM ratings before wasting time chortling about ones supposed achievments on a radio board.

    Probably.

KUFO, as the only active rock station in Portland, should be easily winning M18-34. Both in AMD and elsewhere. It would be charitable to say there's still some work to do.

I'd opine that sticking a metaphorical sock in it until at such time you actually have something substantive to boast about would be a more intelligent course of action.

    Posted on July 14, 2010 - 08:53 PM #
  33. i think you are dumbest of all lurkinggrendal. i haven't said anything about anything. except that you all say the same dumb shit to me every time i get hired or bumped up for anything. it's all been said a million times.

your radio theory's are the same as everyone who thinks they know everything. do you think i've spent 20 plus years in the business and need to come to a fucking message board for advice? really?

i like to jerk your chains. it's entertaining to watch you dullards react the exact same way every time. nothing changes on these boards ever.

so far you have not disappointed.

thanks for your time. bye crackers!

  36. My comments were actually the most succint of the lot and dealt soley with the measure of success all on-air personalites are measured by. To wit, the ratings. None of my points are inaccurate and can easily be verified by a third party.

I.e. The station is (today) not doing as well as it should. You (today) have no winning track record in AMD. That's incontavertible. Clinging to a successful quarterly book under the old measurment system from several years ago is hardly indictitive of some kind of morning radio dominance.

The only opinion offered was that until at such time you actually develop a M18-34/M18-49 winning streak under PPM on that radio station you're just bloviating.

Prove 'em wrong, wunderkind. You just haven't, yet. I wish I could say it's rare to encounter someone with such a self centered, egocentric bent with so little to actually base it upon.

I'm sorry I hurted your feelings.

Funny thing is that Kidd Chris and Marconi sound so similar, it's like the "show" never takes a breath. It goes from being a "dog with nasty fleas" (Thanks Stoneman) to a dog with a flea blanket. That's some pretty dense suck. The only way I can tell who's talking is if something remotely interesting/intelligent is said. Then I'm 99% sure it's Chris (the other 1% is when Marconi signs off/rips off another Stern bit).

And by the way, isn't the only reason Marconi is still in Portland because KROQ laughed him out of CBS/LA? They sure weren't laughing WITH him there.

The sooner KUFO hires the Donk Show, the sooner that ship starts to turn around...

KUFO? It reaches the masses of 12-18 year old skateboarders.
    Sheesh.
Time and time again, it's proven that ONLY 2 formats own Portland: AC with K103 and Conservative Talk Radio with the stations that air that combined owning the market and doing the best revenue.
So, with that, when will KUFO drop the child's play that SOOOOO entertains teenagers and replace it with LOCAL Conservative talk OR a better version of K103?
The days of the Stern type morning show are LONG gone. Like I said, it's so 2000's, heck even 1990's.
Say where is that guy who used to post under the name "Nickbergshead"? He was funny.
By the way, we are all stupid if we thing that the above posts are REALLY from Marconi. He's stupid, but not THAT stupid. We been punked.

KUFO can try throwing new talents at the public all day long, but it's going to continue to sucks as long as the music format remains so stale.

Move to current rock or go away.

"L.O.L., the same dumb shit. Do any of you have anything new to say?"

Yeah, if you don't have anything constructive to post here, log off this system, go to the Radio Info forums and start dumping all your verbal diarrhoea there, along with all the other cranks and fanatics populating that system. That's what it's there for.

    "Bye, crackers!"

Okay, about that. See, I actually prefer the term "hacker". "Cracker" is effectively synonymous with "script kiddie", "identification thief" and the generally unfortunate and misguided mass-media definition of "hacker". "Crackers" do not and can never be capable of possessing the skills and knowledge necessary to be an actual "hacker". (Pay a visit to the magazine section of Border's Books, and pick up a copy of "2600" if you are at all curious.) Of course, given the tone you've taken on this board thus far, it appears you write the "cracker" label with some authority.

  45. I have worked at Entercom and Fisher with Marconi. He is a pro. What chaps my ass. Is when someone gets on this forum,, and blasts a working pro. These "experts" have never cracked a mike let alone earned a paycheck in radio. I earned paychecks in radio for 34 years. If you don't like the guy too bad. Now all you whiners go out and show us how its done. Get a paying job in radio and give us old pros an education. By the way Marconi, good luck on your new gig.
