On Tuesday, August 4th KXJM was moved to the new upper band panel antenna at Sylvan. It joins KINK in that system. ERP is 68kW, TPO is 34kW.

Chris: Thanks! I've documented what you've written, plus it's been added to "This Day In Portland Radio History".

Will changes in ownership modify the plan? or will all of the stations that are on the old FM panel at Sylvan still end up moving to the new panel on the new tower?

My understanding is that all stations are still moving to this antenna. CBS still has a legal obligation to Clear Channel to move KLTH to this system. The new KUFO transmitter is in place and electrical work is being done on it now. It may still be a couple of months before any other stations move to the new system as a last minute decision to use 5 inch flex for the antenna feed resulted in TPO requirements that KINK, KUFO and KLTH cannot meet with their transmitters or input hybrids. See KINK's STA application here: https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/cdbsmenu.hts?context=25&appn=101326393&formid=911&fac_num=53068

chrisweiss...
Thank you! ... glad you made it to the "new board"

Been a tad busy these last few months. The new board has been a bit quiet on technical stuff anyway.

Will, KKRZ, KKCW, KFBW, KXJM, KGON, KYCH, and KRSK move to the new Sylvan Attenna panel?

As far as I know, these moves are only from the old KOIN TV tower at Sylvan to the new KOIN DTV tower at Sylvan... about 50 ft apart. So in answer to your question:
KKRZ NO, it is on the Skyline (KGW DTV) tower.
KKCW NO, it is on the Skyline (KGW DTV) tower.
KFBW NO, it is on the Skyline (KGW DTV) tower.
KXJM YES, That is what started this thread.
KGON NO, it is on the Stonehenge tower.
KYCH NO, it is on the Stonehenge tower.
KRSK NO, it is on the Skyline (KGW DTV) tower. So, on the new "CBS" panel we now have KINK, KXJM, with KLTH, KUFO & KUPL to be moved later.

Ever since KINK and KXJM moved to the new site, the signal strenth (in Eugene) seems to have decreased.

I meant if these stations will move into Sylvan tower.
KKRZ,KKCW, KFBW, KXTG, KGON, KYCH, and KRSK.

I am sticking with my answer above...NO and add another NO for KXTG. Right now we have a pretty good distribution of stations on the three major sites, something like 6-9 FMs at each site, and specific reasons, (such as for example, distances to Seattle, Eugene and other sites, desired coverage, common ownership) determined why each station is located at a particular site.
Add to the list above:
KXTG NO, it is on the Stonehenge tower.

The thing is that Class C stations on the Stonehenge Tower that are first adjacent to Class C Seattle stations, are sort of pseudo grandfathered at their present class. If they move to Sylvan or Skyline, they can't maintain Class C status and would have to drop back to C0. This could give them more coverage unless someone decides to squeeze in another station because as is, they're protected as a full Class C even though their signal is significantly less than a full C0. If someone DOES decide to squeeze in another signal, while one of these stations is still at Stonehenge, then they might decide to move to one of the TV towers, since they would be downgraded at their present site anyway. I don't expect this to happen anytime soon if ever.

Can the stonehenge Tower be upgrade to accommodate a minimum of Class C signal or they can't because of the FAA restriction.

Would moving KXTG from Stonehenge de-grade it's signal??

Since a first adjacent class C (KJR 95.7) *does* exist in Seattle, I assume that KXTG (95.5) is one of the stations that semoochie is talking about in the post above, that is "pseudo grandfathered" class C at Stonehenge.
semoochie... thanks for that post above, I don't think that I have ever heard "the rest of the story" on the class C situation at Stonehenge.

From what I understand, a station at Stonehenge meets the mileage separation requirement of first adjacent Class C in Seattle to Class C in Portland but Sylvan or Skyline does not. The very existence of the Stonehenge site's predecessor was probably to fit in all of those first adjacencies. You have to remember that what is now Class C, C0, C1, C2 and C3, was once only Class C. A station running 3.1kw @ -500 feet was a Class C with full Class C protection, despite having far less coverage area than a full signaled Class A! If KXTG were to move to Sylvan or Skyline, they'd lose their Class C status, which gives them more protection from other stations. The reason they wouldn't be able to maintain Class C status is because either of the TV towers is too close to Seattle for a first adjacency at full power. The best they can do is Class C0(the same basic signal as KXJM)and they already have most of that(386 out of 450 meters above average terrain)as well as full Class C protection.

I asked about "The Game" because I go camping a lot at the beach and I can get KXTG at Cape Lookout and Devil's Lake and if they changed that I might not get my sports fix....
