  1. This from All Access:

    ------------------------------------------KPAM/Portland Shuffles Lineup------------------------------------------

PAMPLIN Talk KPAM-A/PORTLAND shuffles its lineup to move afternoon host VICTORIA TAFT from 5-8p PT to 11a-3p weekdays, beginning MONDAY (3/8). The move puts TAFT up against crosstown ALPHA BROADCASTING Talk KXL-A mainstay LARS LARSON (who airs noon-4p).

The move also clears room for TALK RADIO NETWORK's MICHAEL SAVAGE, who gets the 3-6p slot. FOX NEWS RADIO's JOHN GIBSON gets added for 9-11a, DIAL GLOBAL's CLARK HOWARD is moving to 9-11p, and SALEM's HUGH HEWITT will air 6-9p. Morning man BOB MILLER remains in place 5-9a.

Guess the time is this next Monday when Hannity and Levin go to 970AM

  4. It'll be fun seeing Victoria take on not only Lars, and apparently Hannity, but also the 11 AM hours of Rush and Beck as well. The few times I've been able to dx-in their signal, Victoria has seemed more off-the-hook than those good old boys.

"Guess the time is this next Monday when Hannity and Levin go to 970AM"
When I was in downtown Portland the other day and could pick up 970 (Can't get much in east Mult. county) I thought I heard a promo that Hannity was starting on March 29.

I doubt Victoria will affect the listenership of the others much. Those that like Lars, Rush, etc., will continue to listen to them. Look at the rest of the new KPAM lineup.... I am not impressed with much of them. They moved their consumer guy to 9-11 at night and cut an hour of his show.

Time will tell if they hold their ratings(?) or sink lower.

Clark Howard was one of the few shows I liked to listen to on AM. Won't be seeking him out at that time.

  7. There is also a promo on 970.am stating the same start date, March 29th.

wow I can't believe PD's that would put three different local conservative talk hosts on at the exact same time. How is that good for the listeners? Whether we like them or not, the listeners deserve some separation.

  9. It's GREAT for the listeners! All the haters can prioritize their hate, and get their stiffies at the same time!

Seriously, Dodger, one does wonder, though you won't hear me complaining over it

  10. By taking Hannity and Levin off the air a few weeks before KCMD can pick them up, perhaps KPAM is hoping that those hosts' regular listeners will give Taft/Savage a chance -- and some of them will stay put when Hannity/Levin return to the air on a competing station? On the surface, that seems a good strategic move on KPAM's part. Probably smarter than keeping departing hosts on right up until switchover day and then losing a huge chunk of listeners all at once.

I might end up listening more to Clark Howard now that he has moved to evenings. I usually missed his show because I am at work during the day.

Here is another statement from KPAM.com at http://kpam.com/pages/pages.php?page=59

"No doubt many listeners will ask 'what happened to Sean Hannity and Mark Levin?' KPAM has long been a supporter of both programs. KPAM was first to put them on the air in Portland and helped build their Portland audience. Eventually, on KPAM both Sean and Mark became top performers in Portland, beating all other talk shows during their time slots. Regrettably, their syndication companies have now elected to remove the programs from KPAM. No reason was given and no opportunity to discuss the decision was offered; only that the decision was 'final.' We are disappointed, though we consider Sean and Mark our friends, and wish them well."

If it is true that Pamplin Media did not get an opportunity to negotiate, Alpha must have thrown a ton of cash at the syndicator that they knew Pamplin couldn't match, or there were other behind-the-scenes issues to which we aren't privy.

KXL tried Clark Howard in Middays. Got their butts kicked. It was the only program on the station with an older demo than Mike Darcy!!

Come on liberals have plenty of haters. look at what that Rahm Emanuel did to congressman Eric earlier today.
