    I heard a rumour that Koin 6 will add a 4pm newscast.

    Can anybody confirmed this.

  2. I can't confirm it, but if they do that will mean there will be THREE 4:00 newscasts in PDX. Virtually unheard of even in the biggest markets.

I'm wondering when the time will come when 2,6,8 and 12 have news from 4am to 8pm? Easy programming and BREAKING NEWS can take place all the time without interrupting anything....
Now we know that 12 won't have noon news since Perry Mason is on at that time... If they ever remove Mason, we riot!

  4. At this point, sounds like a territorial dispute. Most, if not all, PDX stations trying to plant the flag at 4pm. (exception, KGW with Oprah), I agree with the off-site thread from Oregonmediacentral, three 4pm casts will not survive longterm.
It will become a point of diminishing returns, will the investment meet the revenue? Not with three competing, for sure. Question is, who will retreat? Or will they all hold tight, out of pure hard-headedness?

I always thought it was more expensive for a station to produce a locally produced news program than syndicated programming. Am I wrong or has the recession even impacted what syndicators charge?

  8. Can they even get anything, with all the exclusive network deals?
