Hi, I'm motozak3, which is a contraction of "MOTOcross and MuZAK version 3". Specifically, my current version string is "Motocross & Muzak For Workgroups 3.11 (386 enhanced mode) build 1049".

So what's the origin or meaning of your PDXRadio handle?

Well, in here, I just used my first name and the first letter of my last name. I know, creative.

Most other places I go by my nickname, "Wilbur" or "Uncle Wilbur".

  7. Back in 1969 I was joining a radio rocknroll family that already included Poppa Stoppa and Cousin Brucie. "Mort" sounded cheery and like it might stick in the listener's head.

I like truth in advertising. My handle is my first name initial, my full last name and the year of my birth. I suspect that is too much info to just "put out there" but I am a believer in just being yourself at all times.

Most of us core group know each other pretty well either in here, or even outside of here, but through here. We have nothing to hide.

It seems to me that the people we've had issues with in the past have hid behind their handle. Obviously something to hide, or so they feel.

Mine may be a bit more obscure than most.

My Grandfather used to write articles in Amateur Radio publications under the pseudonym "A. Nonny Mus".

I just dropped the middle name.

I don't have any particular reason for being anonymous.
I've posted enough information that it would be no effort for someone to figure it out.
There is simply no reason anyone should care.
I could easily follow Brianl's lead and be Brianr but it is what it is.

Now I just say I'm just a typo away from being an asshole.

For many years, most people I know have called me "JR", from my initials. This led to some interesting comments at work when the "JR" on TV got shot.

I have always been more interested in the technical items on this board so the "tech" part seemed to follow naturally. Since electronic engineering is somewhat outside of my field of study, sometimes I feel like a "Jr. Technician", at best in these subjects, so that fits as well.

I did consider using "missing_kvix", but figured that would be too obscure.

  17. My handle on this board was from an epiphony I had long back about 1997 or so...while on the air at Oldies 95.7...back when I actually did a LIVE airshift...of course everyone knows about the ' kennewickman ' remains found by the Columbia River..down at Columbian Park in Kennewick during a Water Follies Hydroplane race...some guy reached for a beer in his cooler and stepped into a sink hole where they found the Kennewick man remains...and the rest is history...well that said..

One saturday afternoon I was on the air with the Audio Prophet Wizard and was reading a story in the Tri City Herald newspaper about the Kennewickman..and got an idea...HEY what if I was the Kennewickman on the radio...what a great way to LOCALIZE this radio station even more...so I just flipped the mic open on the next break and DID IT...' big AL the Kennewickman...'''didnt even get permission from anyone...just did it and that continued for another 9 years...I got pretty good feedback from listeners everywhere..and the management thought it was good and funny too...capitalize on all the free publicity...

And so when I got in here...I wanted to extend it again...in some small way..." Caveman "..politics ..HA HA ...

I used to work for SkyTel and my first name is Bill. Hence; Skybill.

Skybill was my original handle on the board but when it crashed a few years back and Dan went to the new board format, I messed something up while re-signing up and so I had to use Skybill9 instead.

My Avatar is a Birthday card I got last year for my 55th.

The guy in the picture looks a lot like may Dad when I was a kid.

Avatars can't be blown up larger to see them any better, so I chose something that looked good at a small size.
I have others I've used around the net, but on this board I like what I've got.
Handle? My radio name is my real name and works just fine. I have always gone by Andy, besides Andrew was already here leaving that option unavailable.

Best avatar was Littlesongs Oregon. I have one of Wizard Island/Crater Lake that works O.K. if the avatar limits are a wee bit larger, like 100 pixels instead of 48.

I'll chime in here... As a former air talent I could have used my former fake radio name except at the time I first joined this board in 2001 (ish) I was probably still a somewhat familiar low level name in town, but no longer on the air, and I was working at two compteting station groups at the same time...

So I figured if I wanted to comment on radio happenings here discretion would be a must. Thus the name refers to Not Talent anymore, It seemed better to spell it with one T and it is kind of funny in a self depriciating sort of way.

And I like the "speak no evil" avitar that Dan chose for me.

(This is actually regarding Deane's recent decision to call me "3" instead of the requested "motozak3", and I was going to post it on /topic/mega-millions, but figured it's off-topic enough that it belongs here instead.)

Interestingly enough, http://feedback.pdxradio.com/profile/3 resolves to Dan_Packard's profile. Apparently this board's software maps user handles to numbers. Through process of elimination, I found out there are currently 234 users registered on this site. "0" apparently is the profile currently logged in on your machine--if you were to go to http://feedback.pdxradio.com/profile/0 , you'd see your own page.

Moral of the story: You may call me "Zak" or "Moto" if you wish, but by calling me "3" you're writing to somebody else entirely. At least he actually exists...

Well, motozak3... most of the people here know each other pretty well and many take shortcuts with the names. Skybill, trix, missing, AB and others are good examples of shortcuts. Most of the time you address me as "jr-" and I never get my panties in a knot insisting that you refer to me by the proper "jr_tech" handle. Lighten up, don't think of it as a slam, but rather a term of familiarity.
