BW's comment was reasonable enough under the puzzling circumstances, let's not get too reflexive with these snarky personal jabs eh?

Petraeus is a homely looking casanova who married the daughter of his WEst Point commmandant. Man knew how to suck up and get ahead. Two repressed people with too perfect marriages. hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. or were two women scorned? Far more entertaining than falling off the fiscal cliff.

  19. I think we will find that the Petraeus situation will get very interesting before it's all over. His testimony on Benghazi could provide considerable entertainment value.

The White House has been working very hard to keep Benghazi under cover, so there must be something of interest there.

The Petraeus testimony is completely non-noteworthy, unless it confirms what the haters have been spooging all over themselves during the past couple of weeks. If his version doesn't line up with the RWNJ conspiracy theories, he'll be derided as a liar or a stooge of the WH.

  24. The overall investigation will no doubt show that the Obama administration was negligent in handling the situation, and kept it from the American people.

I suspect that when the facts are in, all of the spinning and defense you Obamatrons are tossing around won't have much effect on the outcome.

  27. Or, perhaps you have no idea what you’re talking about and are often misinformed and prone to ridiculous conspiracy theorizing.

There is no scandal. There is no conspiracy. There are literally no facts that support such bizarre assertions. Literally, the only place you hear and read of such things are in the right wing media bubble. You live in a fever swamp.

I’ll happily bet you any amount of money you’re willing to lose and would merrily set up a Pay Pal to you to accommodate the wager’s outcome that in the end this will amount to absolutely nothing. Just like the long, long list of other non stories you have similarly, credulously bought into wholesale. Then peddled across the web, and when utterly proven to be idiotic, you simply move onto the next one without ever acknowledging you were provably incorrect. Would you like a list?

There was no willful malfeasance, no intent to deliberately deceive, and certainly no intent on the part of our government up to and including the Obama administration to do anything other than protect the well being of our citizens wherever they are in the world. At best, we’re talking about understandable confusion in the aftermath of at attack. That’s it. And that’s all that will come out of the hearings.

If you said the sun was rising tomorrow I’d give serious thought about it actually occurring as scheduled.

  30. If you do any actual, non loony reading on the subject you’ll learn that’s exactly what many senior intelligence officials thought at the time.

While I have no interest in parsing out all of the details, probably anymore than you have any interest in reading them and then responding in similar detail, it’s abundantly clear there’s nothing untoward going on in regards to this matter. As I stated and there’s alot of factual backing up of that assertion. At worst you’re dealing with kind of confusion that inevitably results from such an occurrence. It can often take weeks or even months for all of the intelligence to be thoroughly researched, vetted, and then hammered into some kind of provable theory when something like this occurs. I'm actually surprised how quickly our intelligence services put it all together.

If you’d like to parse down an incredibly complex situation into a simplistic Monday morning quarterbacking of “they’re dumb”; that’s of course you’re prerogative.

However in doing so you only underscores the fact there’s no conspiracy. There’s no cover up. The hearings on the matter will show exactly the same conclusion. All of the dill weed yammering to the contrary you hear from Deane and the liked minded (including the tin hat brigade on Fox News, Rush, etc.) is factually wrong and deeply dopey. The National Enquirer often has better investigative reporting than Fox & Friends.

Blowhard MCCAIN makes big noise NOW... but didn't even bother attending the september briefing, nor did his Rethuglican cohorts. Obviously embarassed at being caught out, well he should be, but tries to make the messenger the culprit, what else is new? Reeks of unpatriotism, undermining the US mission when real enemies are out there enjoying the political fallout:

"Questioned About Missed Briefing On Benghazi, McCain Snaps At Reporter
    Tom Kludt - 4:33 PM EST, Thursday November 15, 2012 "

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) flashed his temper on Thursday morning when confronted with questions from a reporter regarding the former Republican presidential nominee's absence from a briefing on the September terrorist attacks at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

According to CNN, most Republican members of the Senate committee in charge of investigating the attacks were absent from the classified briefing, which was led by Obama administration officials on Wednesday. On the same day, McCain held a Capitol Hill press conference to call for a special investigation of the attacks and also took to the Senate floor to issue a blistering criticism of President Obama's handling of the situation in Benghazi.

Approached by CNN's Ted Barrett on Thursday, McCain said he had no comment on his schedule or "how I spend my time to the media." When Barrett pressed McCain, the senator became agitated.

    From CNN:

Asked why he wouldn't comment, McCain grew agitated: "Because I have the right as a senator to have no comment and who the hell are you to tell me I can or not?”

When CNN noted that McCain had missed a key meeting on a subject the senator has been intensely upset about, McCain said, "I'm upset that you keep badgering me."

While McCain refused to shed light on why he didn't show, his spokesman Brian Rogers emailed CNN a short time later with an explanation. He blamed it on a "scheduling error" but wouldn't provide any more detail.

  39. I welcome his (and other GOP folk) continuing to be a dildo about this.

    1. There's no scandal, there's no cover up, it's yet another in a long line of nontroversies that only lives and breathes in Fox News conspiracy land. Pure bluster and inanity.
    2. Susan Rice, literally, has nothing to do with any of it and his a highly regarded professional. Completely and utterly foolish non-story as The President clearly laid out the other day and basically dared Republicans to fuck with him over it.
    3. If she does in fact end up nominated at State, the Republicans will be picking a public fight (and to recap, picking a fight over a non issue with someone who really had nothing to do with any of it) with an African-American woman.

How could any of this possibly be looked at as ill considered or go awry for them politically?

Angry old white men mad about…well, we’re not sure, really. But I’m sure it’s quite valid…in opposite world.

This scandal is a purely Republican circular firing squad. So funny to watch the bubble people on this forum try to insert "liberal" into it. The Obama adm and the American people are the victims here.

Republican brass with dicks for brains who doled out classified info to get in the sack with married military groupies and puff up their book sales, plus shirtless FBI cops--who were brought in by a 911 call not nosy liberals. That caller, a hottie conservative society hostess, deep in debt and with mideast connections. A dangerous combo as any spy novel reader knows. Maybe debtridden, tax defrauding Jill was encouraged to listen for intelligence chatter at her parties, or stroke a horny general. Petraeus has been falling on his sword to his bosses, not a marriage counsellor-- because he compromised security and reminded everyone why "military intelligence" is an oxymoron.

  47. There-is-no-conspiracy. Nobody is lying. There is no cover up. I’ll make you the same bet I made our King Whack-a-Doodle. You name the amount of money you’d care to lose on the matter. When ultimately it’s shown there’s nothing at all to any of it, I’ll merrily set up a Pay Pal account so you can wire me the cash.

And who is flipping out about his affair? That's not even the issue. In what world are the liberals all agog over an extramarital affair? Who cares? Who are you referencing, Sky?

The issue was whether or not his being involved in said affair at any impact on national security. Apparently, it did not.

And for our other conspiracy minded kook, KW, that’s why The White House was not informed immediately. Think about it for a moment. You think the FBI should be relaying personal information about the subject of an investigation when they’ve determined that no crime occurred? It’s now the job of the FBI to report to those on high about whom is fucking whom? Really? No laws were broken, no procedures were violated.

The rest of it is just optics and politics. Petreus is the latest in long line of political figures, both Democratic and Republican, that were caught up in a n extramarital affair or sexual scandal of some sort and chose to resign in the aftermath. Would you like a list?

The real hypocrisy of the situation is should he have chosen to stay in his post, you’d be attacking President Obama for that, too.

Come out of the bubble. It’s been feeding you poor, distorted, or flat out incorrect information and news for years as has just been spectacularly underscored by the recent election.

There’s no scandal re: Benghazi. It’s make up ring wing nonsense and was called out as such during the hearings. There’s no evidence, and I mean NONE, to support the contention there’s some kind of willful cover-up or attempt to deceive anyone about anything. It’s a losing issue because it’s a fake issue.

Bet on it. I’m willing to.
