---------------------------------Bridgman Returns To Los Angeles As KDAY OM---------------------------------

MAGIC BROADCASTING Rhythmic AC KDAY/LOS ANGELES brings in former KKRZ/PORTLAND PD BRIAN BRIDGMAN to be its OM. BRIDGMAN told ALL ACCESS, "This is a tremendous opportunity. KDAY was at the forefront of the Hip-Hop movement on the West Coast in the late '80s. The excitement level from the audience has been incredible."

BRIDGMAN added, "I look forward to working closely with VP/GM ZEKE CHAIDEZ and PD ADRIAN SCOTT to maximize KDAY's unique brand in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA."

BRIDGMAN comes to KDAY after stints as PD at KKRZ/PORTLAND, KHKS/DALLAS and WIOQ/PHILADELPHIA. BRIDGMAN also served as APD/MD at KIIS/LOS ANGELES in the late '80s.

  2. Indirectly related to this thread, KDAY-AM was one of the first R&B stations on the west coast. Great call letter legacy there. Sorry, but I love the call-letter histories...

  4. Losing Bridgeman was one of the best things to happen to Z100. Let's hope he doesn't turn KDAY into chipmunk radio.

  5. the_radio_guy: Brian may have pitched up Z's music, but he was a good PD. His rationale behind the degree of pitch, was to make Z100 stand out, and appear more energetic than Jammin'. But he successfully repositioned Z after the disasterous efforts of the previous PD. He cared about his staff, and worked tirelessly to pull the station from a bleak future.

I wish nothing but the best for Brian. He's one of the good ones.

  6. So, besides speeding up the records, he was great! Just, funnin' ya!

  7. I don't know Bridgeman, and have nothing negative to say about him, other than the fact, he turned Z100 into one of the most pitched up stations I've ever heard.

These days, Z100's ratings are looking better than they have in a long time. I believe that this is partly due to the pitch being lowered back down to an acceptable level. As a professional, I would expect Bridgeman to know that excessive pitch increase leads to listener fatigue.

While we're on the subject of pitch, I am disappointed in CC's decision to pitch up "Oldies 106.7." Triple A, AC, and Oldies stations should never be pitched up.

  8. Brian may have pitched up the music at Z but he was also kind enough to listen to one of my pitches, a morning show called "CK and Granny".
