-------------------------Family Radio Sponsors Rapture Billboards Around The Country-------------------------

FAMILY RADIO, a ministry of RADIO STATIONS INC headquartered in OAKLAND, CA, is connected to a series of billboards announcing the date of the rapture in cities across the country.

According to THE TENNESSEAN, FAMILY RADIO's Founder HAROLD CAMPING predicted the billboard's message that MAY 21st, 2011 is the date of Jesus' return to earth.

Nashville Billboards Claim Jesus Will Return May 21, 2011

"At least one Nashville resident remains unconvinced. Sophie Boes is a manager at Whiskey Kitchen, the downtown restaurant closest to a Gulch billboard. She said she'd never seen a message like it."

"Wow," she said. "Welcome to the South."

The billboard shown in the photo accompanying the article says "He" is coming back -- it doesn't specify Jesus. This may be just an early "teaser" ad for a big evangelistic event of some kind. (If so, it's in rather poor taste, but I've seen worse.)

    From the Family Radio site:

    Judgment Day
    May 21, 2011
    The Bible Guarantees It

    http://www.familyradio.com/index.html

Among the front page claims is the assertion that Gay Rights is a sign that the Apocalypse is near. They also quote a snippet of Ezekiel 33. Ah yes, now that is some classic Biblical boilerplate.

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel%2033&version=KJV

For those not familiar with the passage, it basically outlines the destruction of the state of Israel in graphically violent terms. This part of the Bible has been used by the pious to justify everything from the Holocaust to acts of domestic terrorism to premeditated murder. The widely accepted axiom that "everyone outside my sect deserves to die" is rooted in this text.

So, this giant religious network is dedicated to making sure that when May 21 rolls around, they will have done their best to stir the pot. Isn't it comforting to know that Family Radio serves more potential listeners in more languages than any other shortwave broadcaster from the United States?

In a world that needs American voices of reason, this powerhouse of bigotry and batshit craziness gets blanket global coverage and tax-free revenue streams. God bless America.

  17. They were recently awarded a construction permit in Billings, MT. If I were an organization that lost to them for ANY non-comm CP, I'd argue that they should not be named the winner because they don't plan to operate the station past May 21, 2011!

I'm good. I'm thinking God has enough power to MAKE them listen. A few bolts lightning thrown at the right time will get people's attention. Maybe somebody should show Him how to make a Telsa Coil.

  21. May 19th 2011 Rainier blows huh? First time I have heard that one...who is predicting it? Harry Truman from his grave 600 feet below whats left of Spirit Lake ?

And remember, the billboard actually says...HE is coming back on May 21, 2011...what ever that really means and could be intrepreted in other ways on May 22, 2011..ha ha ..

  22. Now that they have gone on record, it will be fun to watch them change, backtrack or prepare for it.

In any case, at least I now know of one day that it will not be happening. You can just count on the opposite happening with these kinds of folk.

"....how to make a Telsa Coil."

I know how to make one of those!!! I made one in high school with a neon sign transformer for the power supply (15 KV @ 30mA). I even made my own HV capacitor.

It wasn't too good, I could only draw an arc about 24" off the top; however, it would light a fluorescent tube in the next room!

Been thinking about making another one!

We will not see 2012!! Family Radio predicts that the end of the world will happen on the 23rd day of the seventh month, as spelled out in II Chronicles 7:10--

And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

The 23rd day of the seventh month will be October 21, 2011. It is kind of cool that somebody had to up the ante on the predictions that the world will end in 2012.

  31. Well here we are, three months later, with less than three months to go. "Coast To Coast AM with George Noory" brought this up again on his March 1st program:

    Judgment Day
"First hour guest, Chris McCann of Family Radio talked about the prediction made by Christian preacher Harold Camping that Judgment Day will be on May 21, 2011. According to McCann, this end date is based on a genealogical timeline that Camping derived from the Bible. On May 21 of this year, select people will be taken up in the Rapture, while others are doomed by a huge earthquake, and other calamities, he suggested. In an effort to get their message out, Camping's organization has rented out billboard space across the US and in many other counties announcing the end date."

First question: With this date getting ever closer, what are your predictions of what some will do, if any, if the media or web start a countdown?

Second question: What will some people do, if any, when it doesn't occur?

Skeptical: Man, If I were Jesus, I KNOW I wouldn't want to return here anytime soon. I'd likely do a complete flush of the planet and start anew.

He already did that once. Fortunately for us, He had compassion on one righteous man, Noah and spared humanity.
The next time, won't be so good.
It won't be on May 21st although hey, it might but as quoted above, "no man, not even the Son knows" so I doubt it.
