---------------------------------Oregon Music Hall of Fame Announces Inductees---------------------------------
(Portland, Oregon) … When the Oregon Music Hall of Fame announced its 2011 inductees, a name familiar to the Portland radio listeners was on the list. Bob Ancheta, KINK.FM’s long-standing host of the Sunday Night Blues Room will be inducted in a ceremony on October 8th at the Newmark Theatre.
Ancheta has been around the Portland radio scene since he built his own radio station in the attic of his parents’ house during his senior year of high school. He got his first real radio job in 1970 on KVAN, one of Portland’s first underground music stations. From there he moved on to KQIV-FM and then in 1977 moved to KGON where he spent the next 18 years and truly became a fixture on the Portland airwaves.
In 1998 he brought his love and knowledge of the blues over to KINK where he has been ever since, hosting the popular Sunday Night Blues Room. His voice is heard all over the country via his company Internet Jock and in his past life, Bob was the stage manager for the old Paramount Theatre as well as managed the Portland band Sequel.
“I’m humbled by this honor, after 42 years of radio, managing the Paramount Theatre Stage and the band Sequel,” commented Ancheta. “It feels great to be recognized for just hanging around the business this long! But also I’m so pleased to be part of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and what they stand for: educating students to follow their dreams in music.”
“Bob is one of those rare individuals, whose passion and knowledge of music has been his calling card over 42 years in the industry,” said KINK Program Director Chris Mays. “It’s terrific to see him honored in this way and I can’t think of anyone more deserving.”
