<description>&#60;p&#62;Yes!  You too can see where the court has leaned over time.  Too bad it's just one dimensional per justice.  Would have been great to see another axis, but still this is an interesting view of our high court history that is easy to consume and think about.&#60;/p&#62;

&#60;p&#62;If Obama actually gets two picks, we may see the most liberal court we've seen in quite some time.  That will, of course, be somewhat checked by the fairly conservative and very corporate Chief Justice Roberts.  Still, elections do matter.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;For the longer term progress, it really is about SCOTUS.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Take a look at a few of the key decisions they've plotted for reference.  Some of them are surprising, given the balance of the court at the time.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;(which is why another axis would have clarified that somewhat)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Enjoy.
