"
They should have started a new show, taking place about 75 to 100 years after the Next Generation ended.
"

That's been done already, sort of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_Voyager

Frankly, Star Trek really could have gone out with a bang if Paramount had ended it there.

Saying of which, "
ST>Next Gen>DS9>Enterprise
" should really read ST > Next Gen + DS9 > Voyager > Enterprise. DS9 was a sort of "tie-in" to Next Generation and aired concurrently with it for a brief period toward the end of NG's run, if I recall correctly.

"
I'm sorry they didn't like it but if you make a movie only Trekkies will like, you'll end up with a pile of crap like 'Nemesis', which won't make Paramount any money.
"

Or like the "Star Wars" prequels.

Lets face facts, Star Trek movies have been horrible since The Search for Spock. Nobody cared about Star Trek until Abraham's resurrected it. A generation of Trekkies are dieing and unless Paramount rebooted the franchise it would of died along with them.

The movie kicked ass.

Also J.J wanted to spin this off to a Tv show but CBS owns the Tv rights to Trek and they said no.

51 dead as of 7 pm Pacific. Many of those school children. This is one of those tragedies that isn't even imaginable.

I've lived in Oklahoma and it's one of my favorite places. The people of Oklahoma are exceptional. Some of the nicest and most down to earth people you'll find anywhere.

The center of the tornado may have passed just to the south of the KOMA property. I believe the call letters are now KOKC.

Well, early adopter pricing is always brutal.

A similar thing is going on with machine tools. Some companies only sell direct, others use resellers.

If Tesla wants to sell direct, it seems to me the dealers need to show how they can add real value. This is why dealers play a part; otherwise, they aren't worth it and end up costing more to everybody.

IMHO Tesla has a case for direct sales give the car technology and early adoption sales they are doing right now.

And that is "free" market dynamics in play. I put free in quotes because there are no free markets because we have law that set market rules, however within those rules anyone can bring to market how they want to.

Tesla isn't catering to just anybody right now and the high technology may well warrant service and support agreements that would prove to be a burden with traditional car dealers in the mix.

I want to see those value statements before I hold an opinion on Tesla and the dealers. Now in the state of Oklahoma, they have required dealers. Tesla is completely free to not sell there too. We will have to see if that really makes sense or not.

Given a little time, I am sure I can find some other instances where this kind of thing is going on. Software has it for sure, and the same dynamic applies. Do dealers / resellers make sense by adding value?

NBC Nightly News had Dr. Greg Forbes on(he was actually in Moore, OK)and he stated this was easily an EF-5 tornado. As they were panning around the destruction, the KOKC (formerly KOMA) towers could be scene in the distance. They were about the only thing that still appeared to be standing.

Well, when you anti guys actually get some facts, then we can discuss them.

This isn't hard, unless you just want to post up a lot of hand waving, grunting and such about how corrupt Obama is. For that to carry any weight, you have to at some point be willing and able to back that shit up and to date none of you have.

That is all I, or any other rational person would be asking for.

IMHO, every iteration of Star Trek was worse than the one previous. ST>Next Gen>DS9>Enterprise. Another Next Gen would have been just that. It only made sense to go back to the beginning, but you had to re-create the original crew, and you needed a starting point. Given the Trekkie cult, any attempt to re-create previous adventures would have been dissected like a med school cadaver. For me, I loved the reboot, as it gives Abrams free rein, without having to strictly adhere to the Gospel According to Roddenberry. Is it too flashy, too bombastic and too enamored of camera tricks? Perhaps, but how many films are flawless? I plan on heading down to a 3D IMAX screen and drinking it all in.

As an aside I worked in OKC in 1985. Never saw a tornado, but remember quite a few tornado warnings, and one night seeing four different severe thunderstorms going on at the same time. East, West, South, and North. Wicked place for weather.

I'm a big time Star Trek fan. But you can't drag me to see this movie. I watched 20 minutes of the first one, stopped it and never wanted to finish the movie. The reboot pissed me off. The story and hack job they did on the characters pissed me off. And all of those lens flares pissed me off. Do we really need to have a lens flare inside the ship on every scene? How can we tell the people watching the movie that this is a dramatic scene when the actor can't do their job in acting. Throw in a lens flare. That will tell them how important the scene is.

J.J. Abrams is a good director. But Star Trek always was better when it went to the future, not the past. Didn't Paramount learn their mistake when they did Enterprise? I don't need or want to see new stories about Kirk, Spock, Bones and the gang. And because this is the age or political correctness. They have to make Uhura into a bigger character then she really was.

Star Trek should have taken a page out of their own play book. They should have started a new show. And the time it takes place is about 75 to 100 years after the Next Generation ended.

Prices;

I remember my first VCR/Camera combo was almost $2000.00.
A 120 minute VHS tape was $25.00.

I didn't buy the first generation of CD burner because it was $750.00.

Thats disgusting Steve!

And by the way, I find it in poor taste to bring up Michael jackson's Monkey "Bubbles." He had nothing to do with any of this hankey Pankey that Mj was doing behind closed doors with young boys.

I don't want it to go away. I just had wish it was something better then name calling.

To be honest it's really hard to express your opinion here without being called every name in the book. My personal favorite is the bad American one.
