Sometime back, the Stoneman mentioned that the best sandwich in town could be had at a cart on the corner of NW 23rd and Kearney. I went there once and it was finally convenient again. It's not that I can't get there but the time is always wrong. Anyway, I tried again and the cart wasn't there. Have they moved or simply gone? This guy got a write up, not only from Stoner but also Willamette Week, within a couple weeks of opening so he was at least, attracting some attention.

Whoever it was that cleaned up at the bankruptcy auction not only owned the name, but some of the GI Joe's website addresses, logos and trademarks. What's a bit amusing is that Norm Daniels, the former GI Joe's CEO (and likely the only halfway smart person that ever worked in the main office) DID NOT partipicate in the relaunch! As for the four clowns that did sink their time and money into this dubious relaunch, their names are David Orkney, Brooks (B.G.) Eilertson, Ron Menconi and Ed Ariniello. This is from The O: ". . . After hearing that the four executives had opened a G.I. Joe's store in the Portland area, UFA [owner of the GI Joe's name] sued for trademark infringement . . . "In an especially notorious infringement of UFA's rights in the intellectual property ..." the lawsuit blasted, "defendants are even referring to their activities as 'The G.I. Joe's Comeback,'" . . ."

Hopefully the new President that is elected in 2012 will kill the government mandated healthcare before it screws us all. Hopefully whoever made this comment gets screwed with a major medical illness BEFORE that new president kills the health plan, or else the guy will get SCREWED twice.

I was a regular morning listener during the Les and Rebecca years, but after Ms. Webb was dismissed, the morning show lost it's appeal, and I haven't really gone back.

The only change to which I am aware is that it's no longer "FM 102". It's "kink.fm and on your radio at 101.9". In order to reverse their ratings trend, it seems to me that the music will have to be even more familiar than it already is and that's a fine line.

Bill, we've been over this before. It's parallel to paying a tax for fire protection. If your house catches on fire (get sick) your taxes have funded a service that will respond with a remedy. Do you rail against paying for fire protection as well? It's really the same thing.

Now, cutting everything out does what to your taxes? Not much overall, yet your daily costs would go through the roof. Just something to think about when you hear about all that wasteful spending.

This from All Access: ---------------IRS Says Red McCombs Owes Back Taxes On Clear Channel Stock Transaction--------------- While CLEAR CHANNEL co-founder BILLY JOE "RED" MCCOMBS was announcing that he would be the lead investor in the attempt to bring Formula One racing and the U.S. GRAND PRIX to AUSTIN with the construction of a new racetrack, FORBES was reporting that the IRS had filed suit against MCCOMBS for $45 million in back 2002 and 2003 taxes based on the agency's contention that he should have reported $216.7 million in capital gains from the sale of 11.3 million shares of CLEAR CHANNEL. The case arose from MCCOMBS' use of a gambit to defer capital gains tax that the IRS disallowed in a separate case against billionaire PHILIP ANSCHUTZ. MCCOMBS borrowed $300 million to buy the MINNESOTA VIKINGS in the late 1990s, pledging CLEAR CHANNEL stock as collateral, then used a variable prepaid forward contract when the stock value declined and he wanted to hold the stock until it recovered, taking a cash upfront payment for an agreement to deliver the shares in the future. The IRS concluded that the transactions with three investment banks were actually sales and therefore immediately taxable.

Well, either you can pay through your cost of services, cost of coverage, or with your life span. Again, like with the poor. The cost to society doesn't really change. I would have much preferred a progressive tax, and a mandate for universal care, but I'll take what we got, because we can build on it. Had the Senate been just a little bit less coin operated, we would have gotten a public plan to really check costs. As it is, I think the mandates are a positive, because the cost issue will come front and center rather quickly. We can reform it then, when it hurts. Always nice to get it right the first time, but progress is progress. We are going to buy those policies, and pay those fines, however we choose, but a lot of people will now live longer, due to the regulations, and low income options to become available. The question isn't whether or not to pay. We pay anyway, as noted above. It's how to best structure that cost for the common good. We missed that bit in the current legislation. It can be fixed however.

"What I DO have a problem with tis the morons in DC telling me that I HAVE to have insurance or pay a fine." That was Romney's solution too, and the last time I checked he was a Republican. That's also what Nixon proposed way back when. The fine, BTW, is to pay for those who don't have health care insurance and don't pay their bills when the go to the emergency room.

And we are supposed to believe that for profit, secret, unverifiable elections are some how ok? And the poor are supposed to vote. That's how it works. When they vote their best interests, it checks over exploitation. Welcome to democracy 101. Seems to me, the corporations paying people a wage lower than it costs to live reasonably can either pay higher taxes, or pay a good wage. The cost to our society is the same either way.

Meanwhile, Washington, A state even more liberal than Oregon, is one of THE last states where one can get a (worthless for federal ID purposes) Drivers license without any proof whatsoever of legal residence. At the same time you can register to vote with the same lack of ID/proof. It's clearly the liberals that want to give a free pass to illegals. There must be some really good reason for this other than the touchy feelie ones usually given. Stating that an Illegal would never do something so clearly illegal as voting doesn't cut it either.

Misfit reporting for support duty.....Sir! Listen with what you've been through, balling your eyes out was probably the emotional release you really needed. Maybe even cleansing to a degree. If you're body says let it out then let it out. The good Lord gave us emotions for a reason. I have a few thoughts on Warafin. Was on it for a year and half because of Deep Vein Thrombosis back in 2004. Hated it. Saved my life, but hated it. Long story short: I am on a supplement called Nattokinase that dissolved my clot and is one the best things for your heart. Warafin will not dissolve clots, just prevents them from getting worse.
