KGEZ Kalispell signed on the air in April 1927 and was currently operating on 600Khz with 5kw directional day and 1kw directional night. This from All Access:

----------------------------------------KGEZ-A Shuts Down Operations----------------------------------------

SKYLINE BROADCASTERS Talk KGEZ-A/KALISPELL, MT has been shut down and taken off the air, just a few days after a federal bankruptcy judge ordered the station to liquidate its assets.

THE GREAT FALLS TRIBUNE reports "station owner JOHN STOKES had filed for bankruptcy in MARCH after a FLATHEAD COUNTY jury in late 2008 ordered him to pay $3.8 million to two businessmen for defaming them on his radio show. In APRIL, the Office of the U.S. Trustee asked to convert STOKES’ Chapter 11 filing to a Chapter 7 liquidation, saying STOKES’ financial statements excluded numerous assets and debts."

This from All Access:

---------------IRS Says Red McCombs Owes Back Taxes On Clear Channel Stock Transaction---------------

While CLEAR CHANNEL co-founder BILLY JOE "RED" MCCOMBS was announcing that he would be the lead investor in the attempt to bring Formula One racing and the U.S. GRAND PRIX to AUSTIN with the construction of a new racetrack, FORBES was reporting that the IRS had filed suit against MCCOMBS for $45 million in back 2002 and 2003 taxes based on the agency's contention that he should have reported $216.7 million in capital gains from the sale of 11.3 million shares of CLEAR CHANNEL.

The case arose from MCCOMBS' use of a gambit to defer capital gains tax that the IRS disallowed in a separate case against billionaire PHILIP ANSCHUTZ.

MCCOMBS borrowed $300 million to buy the MINNESOTA VIKINGS in the late 1990s, pledging CLEAR CHANNEL stock as collateral, then used a variable prepaid forward contract when the stock value declined and he wanted to hold the stock until it recovered, taking a cash upfront payment for an agreement to deliver the shares in the future. The IRS concluded that the transactions with three investment banks were actually sales and therefore immediately taxable.

well, i have put together a couple of audio archive cd's of some of my dad's work while in Portland, currently there is no "artwork" or booklet, at some point down the road i will look at the costs of doing that, but in the mean time i wanted to make some of his work available to the Portland radio community, some who may remember him while he lived and worked in Portland from 1950 until he got the Seattle Super Sonics radio gig in 1967. these two cd's scratch the surface, and there will be more forthcoming down the road, not sure how many hours of audio i may have from Portland, 25-30 hours? some decent quality, some not so. but all of it historic for one reason or another. the first cd covers some of the Portland Beavers broadcasts , i have more , but this is a good sample... the track listing is: i will do the second cd in a few days, interested to see who may be interested in this material...

9. Union 76 spot, dad starts to crack up in the middle of the read. :58
10. excert of a re-creation of a 1952 NFL football game between the L.A. Rams, and the Detroit Lions, who later that year won the NFL championship, dad recreated Rams games for a couple of years on KEX-FM , yes FM, that's what the ID says, (who knew) among the L.A. players Norm Van Brocklin, Tank Younger,Elroy Hirsch (who didn't play in that game), Tom Fears, Vitamin Smith,Skeets Quinlan and more, for Detroit, QB, Bobby Layne, Bob Hoernschemeyer, & more. 12:55

the second cd, is primarily football, U of Oreg. and Oregon State College/University including excerpts of the 1967 OSU vs USC "Giant Killers " win....

i can be reached directly at la.bob@hotmal.com the individual cd's will go for around $15. that would include postage...

any monies made on these go to my mom to help pay for the medical expenses they incured over the last year+ of my dad's life. so i would hope you wouldn't make copies of these to pass around to radio friends, or sports folks, but hey... i think i could also do these as digital downloads, via YouSend it, if payed thru PayPal, i haven't converted the audio WAV. files to MP3, but could if that would be of interest to any one.

all the best, and i will have more available over the next few months
